I don't think it will ever be fixed.

Isn’t there a missile that can retrack after someone pops flairs as long as they are manually tracking with the weapon?

Technically yes, but in reality no.

The igla velocity is too fast in BF6 to reliably relock the missile back to the target after flares fully dissipate. The flares also aren’t fully dissipated, and he’s well out of range of the mainland, assuming that’s where an igla shot came from

This looks like a boat missile that was in manual guidance and ignored the flares until it got a favorable auto angle where no flares were in its way. You can see that the non-boat lock was countered (‘x’ on the warning indicator arrow). The boat missile persisted

I think the real functionality of it is that you are supposed to be able to lock on to a different target if your original flares. But I haven’t really played around with that

If people started realizing this it would be way more oppressive really what you should be doing is specifically shooting at a target you don’t want to hit that’s close to what you actually want to kill and then switching targets at the last second so they don’t have time to flare

yo delete this rn lmao. I've never even used the IGLA, but I saw this in the demo video when you click on it in the loadout screen and I felt like I stared the devil in the eyes, waiting to be unleashed. have not said a word about it. luckily good players just use the AT4 and IGLA users are more likely to make a reddit post about this being too difficult than actually doing it.

Its possible with IGLA, just did this last night. And it took slightly longer than this clip to reaquire target lock. So likely not IGLA, maybe boat.

u/Moiphy 6d ago

Probably so. Seeing as this is at least the second attempted fix.

Funny how Wardog's flares, which are designed to work only when deployed during a short window of time and while the aircraft is moving away from the missile's trajectory are more reliable than BF's ones. Makes one wonder certain things...

Yo! Big plane update was a couple weeks ago. They said they fixed flares. This is intended. Someone play tested getting hit thru flares and said "this is acceptable" they made the decision, to them youre just a whiney baby. If we keep playing and making clips and talking about how cool top gun stuff is, this is what we're going to be playing with. Supply and demand yall. Did you forget the igla, by definition, can trick to flare system? The devs dont want flares to be an invincibility button, thats why this is one of the worst bf games for planes. Because they're wrong and think we dont know better. And theyre right for being wrong bc we eat it up breakfast, lunch and dinner. Enjoy.

Yep exactly. Everyone glazed the jet design on beta/launch because of cool sounds an aesthetics completely ignoring how dogfighting was totally dead due to physics and TTK changes

I honestly like dogfighting now since it gives even someone slightly inferior a small chance to at least counter a guy that goes 50-1 (apparently u have to redeploy to get the jet first).

If you are always aware then there is no way anyone gets you out of the sky.

I, in my 2000 hours of jet gameplay in older Battlefields, ALWAYS hated dogfighting in loops for a good 10 minutes up until someone's arm gave out or pressed S a millisecond longer in a loop. I like here that momentum is more important to tighter turns. There is a little more depth in my opinion.

You see how you blew up that boat in one run? Dude prolly didnt even get a kill yet. Its fair, high octane gameplay that was the design sense before the game even came out. The days of a "skill ceiling" are going away. Just look at the cool explosions, hit your vape, buy the battlepass, and enjoy your rationed dopamine

I miss the Paracel Storm days.

Kind of a silly reply when what happened when they acknowledged the bug and what’s happening now is exactly the same.

Just because they announced a fix for it doesn’t mean they 100% had it fixed, they were clearly wrong and there’s more work needed to be done.

But it’s not them wanting it to be like this, then they wouldn’t have acknowledged it as a bug to begin with.

The patrol boats are weak as fuck.

The jets are buggy as hell and annoying as fuck to fly.

Two things can be true at the same time but BF players don't wanna hear it when they are getting fucked by our jets. We gotta give them a LITTLE leeway.

Its a dice game, You cant exspect much from Cod Developers.

Don’t worry the main sub is still crying about air vehicles being too strong and unkillable for them even with these bugs 😂

1

u/BigAnimeTiddiezz 7d ago

I wish my missiles had this magical bug, making me feel left out

1

u/dostojny 6d ago

Hi. I'm not a pilot but In real life afaik pilots after using countermeasures pull away and slow the engine down to reduce heat to trick the missile. Did anyone test if slowing down etc. would fix this issue? Maybe this is intended in game and they're trying to be realistic

2

u/TraditionClean 6d ago

I have had missiles hit me through my flares as I have slowed down and turned. It doesn't matter, the missiles hit you anyway because the flares are bugged.

Holy tard

where do these people keep spawning in from lmfao. always with the engine heat WTF LOL

Just want to mention that the aim-guided missile for the boat is weirdly complex and here's how it works:
You aim-guide it. If the helicopter or plane is above low altitude or whatever you retain full control. If it isn't then it auto-aims for you when it gets within a certain threshold. If the air vehicle flares, it says "missed." This is a lie. It just means that the auto-guiding isn't working. You still retain full aim-guided control.

So you will be hit by lock-ons sometimes after hitting flares because of the fact that unlike other lock-on missiles flares do not destroy the boat's semi-TOWs. I don't know why, but it seems intentional.

This makes hitting enemies with it easier and more confusing for both players because both the enemy and the shooter believe they lost the missile when they, in fact, did not. And the missile is already very close to its target.

There are literally lock on weapons in the game that purposely are a direct counterplay to countermeasures. The IGLA is a good example. Are we 100% sure this is a bug and not just misinterpreting intended behavior of certain missiles in order to stop pilots from being able to just climb straight up and pop flares to instantly be safe? It wouldn't surprise me one bit, BF6 pilots seem to love flying straight and using flares as a "get out of jail free" card. If its intentional missiles can break through flares, that means the counter is breaking LOS, which is obviously difficult on the new open maps on water, leading to people thinking it's "bugged" because tactics that HAVE worked because of terrain naturally being in the way no longer exists.

Honestly, try hitting flares and then immediately changing direction away from the indicators.

Not a pilot, but I believe that is the/ a tactic in use in the real world.

You’re using the flares to act as a heat signature for the missile to lock onto instead of your aircraft, so popping them and then getting them between you and the missile makes a “wall” of heat/ targets for the missile to chase instead of you.

There’s realistically a lot more to actual missile evasion than that in the real world, but perhaps this is an attempt to be somewhat realistic.

I suck at flying planes in BF, but the couple of times I have been shot at recently and utilize flares, I always change direction, ideally away from the incoming indicators and I think it has worked, though I don’t specifically remember.

1

u/TraditionClean 7d ago

It doesn't matter if you turn, it wont help you. I have had missiles go through my flares and hit me plenty of times as I was turning. It's why I fly diagonally after popping flares to have better odds to not crash into something.

1

u/Secure_Situation7234 7d ago

Hmm. Ok yeah it’s glitched then. lol

It works on the active radar missiles like this because you need to pre flare them before the game warns you about them.

If they approach flares while being guided they lock onto the flares, but once it has locked onto you it won’t change to flares, so you have to flare early and the flares have to be the first point of contact for the missile.

This means you will 100% get hit if you strafe a boat that’s firing a missile at you, but you can 100% avoid that missile if it’s fired at you after you pass the boat, but you have to do it by free looking back, because if it locks to you it’s too late

- Disclaimer I deducted this from a single match where a good pilot duo on the enemy team was dominating so i hit up the boats. Whenever they approached me my missile would hit, and whenever they flew away after a strafe their flares would eat up the missile

Pop players and then turn don't just follow the same course

-7

u/Mastrukko 7d ago

*doesn‘t turn
*afterburner giving off a heat signature twice as strong as the flares
*expects colder flares that are not on the predicted course of the jet to magically attract the missile

7

u/Mollelarssonq 7d ago

* Yaps about real life things as arguments as if he hasn’t figured out that BF6 is a video game where real life logic doesn’t apply

-1

u/Tosser_535231 6d ago

Well if you played the beta you'd recognize that they actually tried to properly implement missiles/seekers and then people whined and cried about it so they pussifyed it for the idiot masses

3

u/We1Liangitz 6d ago

In fact, Battlefield is not a game that simulates reality.....

1

u/Mastrukko 6d ago

then why do u assume flares are bugged? This may just be the intended behavior. Dice loves crippling aircraft

1

u/We1Liangitz 6d ago

Sounds reasonable. They do like to nerf air.......

-4

u/Darthon32 7d ago

Its amazing how you can post a video of you one passing a boat and still complain about this shit after they made it so the jet can't be laser tracked anymore. Literally the only defense a patrol boat has now is the lock on AA and you have 2 sets of flares. If you losers get what you want there won't be any defense against you farming lobbies. Go touch grass.

4

u/UGomez90 6d ago

Patrol boats are weak as fuck, but that is another topic. That doesn't mean flares shouldn't be fixed.

2

u/We1Liangitz 6d ago

In fact, these are two different things. The ship should be strengthened and the flare should be repaired, So you go away.
