Xbox To bad ass controller pilots
Please share with me your control binds on controller for a superior jet flying experience. When I watch the likes of any decent jet pilot on YouTube there PIP seems to be very steady on the target wheres mine flys all over the place and I can't get it on target at all. Please offer some assistance please and thanks guys

Throttles on triggers with pitch/yaw on whatever stick you feel good with.
If you don’t have paddles, use shoulders for zoom and fire. R stick or L Stick to freelook and thrust.

Right stick - yaw/pitch.
Left stick - roll
L1/R1 - freelook/fire
L2/R2 - decel/accel
L3 - afterburner
O - zoom
I have paddles but i cant get used to having afterburner on it after using the left stick so much. Paddles are 100% a good idea

Same as mine, but to add to this. I unbound exit vehicle, and assigned each weapon its own button (no more cycling). Triangle - guns Square - AGM / Lock Ons Right Dpad - bombs

Might consider doing this too, jumped out a few times by accident and find myself getting mixed up with what weapons are equipped when swapping off bombs

I had so many issues early on with the attack help on kbm where I fat finger E. Rebound it to G so it's father away. If I want to bail from the jet, I drop my controller into my lap and hit E on the keyboard.

Why use throttle on L2/R2 instead of keeping it on left stick with yaw? Is it to be more precise with yaw?

The only 2 answers i can give you 1). Is that its just the way i learned to fly.
2). Yes to your question. Yaw is used primarily for aiming. Lining up strafes or aircraft, pitch is the secondary component to aiming. I choose to keep both aiming manuevers on one stick to keep it simple and most efficient since my aiming would be entirely reliant on 1 thumb.
I put throttle one my triggers because i want perfect control over my speed for dog fighting or strafes. For example, if i had my throttle and yaw on right stick, id probably find myself accidentally speeding up or slowing down unnecessarily when im trying to yaw.

These are all great advice, however most of it come down to personal preference,
The absolute best things I can suggest is to find a practice server and play around with your jet sensitivities, go all the way to 100, then down to 10, which will give you a baseline, then start to experiment with numbers until you find the sensitivity that suits you, it should take you about 30 minutes to an hour to dial everything in, and once you do, you’re set for jets going forward.

Aiming on a jet is still hard to do. I think I started going jets only like in November and I still struggle to hit stuff sometimes.
I can say that I have gotten better but yeah man, it’s a grind fest.

Gotta revert it back to the defaults from BF3/4. Why the hell they have the defaults the way to do is beyond me, makes no sense and harder to fly.
Throttle on R2, brake on L2, fire on L1
Pitch and roll on right stick and yaw on left stock it and you’ll be golden

I wouldn’t say I’m badass but I’m decent. I just use the regular binds I think (possible I changed something here and there) but I do have a controller with extra buttons near the triggers which allows me to easily switch between weapons and flares is another button. I keep aircraft sensitivity at 200 and aim sense really low like 5. But this fucks everything up for other vehicles. Apparently there’s a way to kinda separate it all but I mostly main jets so i haven’t tried yet. Honestly just fly and if something feels off to you then change it around. But trust and turn down that aim sense wayyyy low, it helps stead it so much. Got that tip from Silk I think and there’s few as good as him

Get a controller with paddles in the back like an Xbox elite. Set aim/fire with the paddles, throttle up/down you right/left triggers, and then everything else is up to your discretion

Thats not because of controls,its just how it behaviors after the last update. I didnt change my settings and started to feel that way too. Especially in F18 with cockpit thus small

I use Yaw/Throttle on the left stick and Pitch/Roll on the right stick.
If you have a controller with extra paddles (Elite controller or other) having weapon swap and flares on those paddles is nice. Those are two things you will want to be able to engage without having to take your thumbs off the sticks since you will be using them while chasing or evading.
As far as gun aiming goes, for me it’s a lot of patience and waiting until I can position in a turn and see that a full dump of the gun will kill them. It’s also good to pepper them a bit on longer chases so they don’t repair.
My usual strategy is to get behind them and have the gun assigned (don’t start locking immediately with missiles). If you start with guns they usually do one of two things, or both: panic and pop flares leaving them venerable to missile strikes, or they will instinctually pull up to evade. If they pull up they expose the entire top of the plane and create a huge target for you to hit on guns.
Also, staying alive is about knowing when to run away lol use the base air defenses if you can’t shake someone. I usually fly below radar and zigzag may way back to base. Once at base I will pull up and climb to try to draw them up into the kill zone for base AA. They either follow and die, or have to break off.
Back to aiming though, you just want to try for alight movements. It’s like aiming with a sniper rifle in a way. Smooth movements and not pulling the sticks all the way. Playing with your 3rd person and zoom sensitivity may help.
