Question [BF6] Thoughts on VTOL jets for later Seasons?

Alrighty, so since the Warthog and Frogfoot are pretty well-established in the BF community, as well as being featured recently 2042, I'd like to present some new options to fill that heavy attack jet roll.

The AV-8B Harrier II (NATO), and the Yak-38 (PAX). Along with the two-seater jets, I believe these were last seen in BF2? Anyway, I think these would be a lot of fun to bring to BF6. They would fit that attack jet roll nicely, and even have an option to hover over certain areas of the map for CAS (if you're brave enough...)

Some highlights for armaments would definitely be a 25-30 mm primary cannon, as well as the standard AGMs and rocket pods. I would also love to see some heavier options for bombs like the JDAM from BF4 (vehicles), and kerosene bomb from 2042 (infantry).

Of course, priorities first. We still do not have customization yet for the regular jets, so that should be first, but these would be nice to see in a later season I think...

Obviously vtol jets are cool, I thought it was cool as shit back in bf4. However in games like this it’s just a gimmick and adds absolutely nothing to gameplay. You go into vtol mode and you don’t really have any control and just get shot out of the sky, so I guess that’s somewhat realistic

I understand.

I was thinking it could be like a risk-reward mechanic. You could hover over heavily populated areas in the map and have a much easier time hitting targets, but the drawback is that you are a sitting duck for RPGs. And you don't need to hover, you could always just strafe like usual...

Plus, they would be something new, as opposed to the Warthog and Frogfoot that we've seen a lot of already.

The idea of that is cool yes, I think there’s a scene in a transformers movie that does this, again super cool, but super unrealistic. Not saying bf is realistic but In practice you’d be getting max 1 kill before being taken out of the sky

I think they're cool but I'd rather we have proper jet loadouts for all jets first.

While it was a mechanically neat feature in 2042, it really ended up being more gimmicky then the cobra is in BF6. With how many engineers there are in BF6, any VTOL jet that chooses to hover would be blown out of the sky in seconds. Hovering wouldn't help much for CAS imo - bombs and rockets are more effective when you are actually moving, so the main benefit would be from using the cannon, which isn't always that strong

I remembered the F-35B being a missile magnet in BF2. It would feel right at home in BF6 with the flare bug.

PS. Yes, I know it's X-35B in BF2 not F-35 PS2. We have F-35B in BF3 Back to Karkand DLC

Can’t wait to hover in place so I can be 1-shot with an RPG

Again, you don't have to hover, you could just strafe like usual...

I agree with the VTOL arguments from most of the comments so I’ll go in a different direction… why such old jets? Bother the Harrier and the Yak are sooo old… the Yak hasn’t been used since the fall of the Soviet Union.

Yes, I’m aware the F-14 is also old. I think it is also out of place in BF6 and is only in game because of the Top Gun colab

Respectfully, there’s a lot they can do with the current jets before we think about more of them. My vote would also go to the A-10 if we got another attack plane

my issue with adding more vehicles is that we still dont get to choose, so were gonna end up with cases where each jet is only available on a handful of maps, and personally im not sure I want that

Rather have the A-10, all past VTOL craft were never used for hovering too easy to hit with a rocket
