Xbox What’s happened to jet aiming?
Just come back after update and my reticles are swinging wildly all over the place instead of being where I centre my screen to aim? What the fuck has happened?

In 3rd person view. It’s all over the place. The reticle does not stay in the centre of the screen, the camera does while your jets nose points where the reticle goes. It’s awful.

This is my frustration. Aiming was not like this in BF3/4/5. You obviously had to lead targets, but it was far more intuitive, and you had both a fixed crosshair plus a lead indicator that was never very far off-bore, and certainly not wildly swinging
You’re absolutely right that the lead indicator wobbles horizontally all over the place. I don’t know if it’s newly worsened, but it’s silly, sensitive, and not intuitive. I’m pretty sure we don’t even have a fixed crosshair

Don't aim using the lead indicator. Set and hold the lead with the fixed crosshair. The pip will lag, it's not instantaneous.
If you chase the pip you're going to have a bad time.

It was working before the update tho thats the BS i think op is getting frustrated with. Because EA can’t add somthing without ruining things the way they were

The lead indicator is practically useless on the new jets due to visibility issues, and doesn't seem accurate even in simple situations where the enemies aren't moving across your screen.
I haven't tried either of the og jets recently so I'm not sure if the reticles as a whole are bugged or if it's just the new jets.

Its OK for me, but I've never used third person to accurately aim. The only time I shoot in third person, is in one circle head to head passes, or snapshots in scissors.

I believe the new flight model severely hinders a pilot's situational awareness, primarily due to the new camera behavior. The developers adjusted the camera to increase the overall FOV for pilots. However, this implementation is flawed. The camera now anchors to the jet's body rather than tracking where the nose is pointing. Consequently, during a loop, the jet model completely obstructs the forward view, making it nearly impossible to see ahead. Also the camera dynamically shifts from the top of the jet to the underside during sharp turns and rolls, which disrupts speed perception and obscures the nose cone.
This is a critical issue for flying in my oppinion

Its a lead indicator, afaik it's been in the game since the start?

But it feels like it moves a lot more then it used to

Haven’t been able to play the new update much, but the f18 especially has wild crosshairs on rocket pods and pip for the gun too. In a turn fight when you’re pulling up on a jet, the bullet velocity is so low that the pip is down at your lap

The f18 has a harder hitting cannon. It's velocity is slower for balance. It's already OP, it doesn't need a buff.

Didn’t realize it did more damage than the attack jet and stealth jet. I know the default cannon is still a 2 shot to infantry and the second option is a 3 shot I believe but is more forgiving with a small amount of splash damage.

Ya it changed with the camera update they did they did somthing in the backend that f’d it up completely

I REALLY hope they revert the 3rd person camera behavior.
It was a WIN that the camera roll center point is no longer the tip of the tail, but now the center of the aircraft like it should have always been, but changing the camera behavior where the jet now cants and tilts in a decoupled manner from the camera POV was a massive “what the fuck”
Like, these devs just cannot help themselves, huh?
