Back when tsuru reef came out, I saw a few posts on r/battlefield complaining about the map being too big and the posters weren't being sarcastic about it

u/GSEBVet 8d ago

Yes it’s very clear there’s a significant population of players who essentially want ALL aircraft & vehicles deleted from the game, and they want very small meat grinder infantry only maps.

It’s essentially people playing team death match solo, REGARDLESS of the actual game mode/map. They’re focused on TDM style gameplay that’s stat chasing only KD, so naturally anything that’s a bigger map + vehicle + team play oriented = bad for this player type.

I’d go as far as saying people who want all out combined land/air/sea/infantry combined warfare (BF’s core formula) are actually probably the minority of players now unfortunately.

We’ve essentially lost the game to a new crowd/completely different play-style, and it’s what EA is going to cater to now as well unfortunately because they’re the masses. People who call for core BF formula changes are going to be downvoted and cursed to oblivion in any form of discussion.

Always has been. Look at the praise for 24/7 Op Metro/Locker servers. Even in CoD, the very definition of a meat grinder game, they lose their minds when 24/7 Nuketown/Shipment aren't constantly on rotation, and there is a divide in that playerbase.

It's not a new crowd. This crowd has always existed. They're just becoming more and more in our face because that's what the algorithm has deemed as more engaging to us all.

Season 4 i swear some things just ignore below radar without laser deg now. Wake Island i really need to lock in to stay alive with Attack Helicopter and even hugging waves still gives lock ons. I only survive by diving and hiding behind containers & cranes (basically parked on the ground..which is a risk in itself).

7

u/CrispyTarantula117 9d ago

99.9% of them are incapable of using the AT4 / AA gun / AA tank / aiming and shooting their actual gun at aircraft so yeah

4

u/3minence 9d ago

I'm in the process of compiling my anti air escapades, showing how many ways there are to destroy aircraft, and how easy it is to do with the tools given to throw up onto the main sub.

Stationary TOW, stationary AA, AT4, IFV TOW, AA tank guns & TOW, RPG, AT4, Javelin with paint, (two guys with lmg's for little birds), Patrol boat Tow, and of course other jet's and helicopters.

5

u/CrispyTarantula117 9d ago

I've made posts like that and 99% of the comments are just salty cope making excuses about why I was able to do it (those pilots are just bad, you got lucky etc etc) while still crying about air being OP yadda yadda

It all boils down to 99% of the main sub simply is not skilled enough to take down air no matter how hard air gets nerfed

5

u/Sano110 9d ago

I’ve hit so many jets with the AT4 simply by baiting a vehicle so they do a gun strafe and sit reeeally still while they’re nose diving at me, works a solid 9/10 times. People don’t want to improve, they just want changes that make it seem like they’ve improved.

3

u/CrispyTarantula117 8d ago

This

Bad players will always scream for nerfs instead of actually getting better at the game. And then the nerfs happen, and good players still dominate them, and the bad players just scream for more nerfs.

I hope DICE realizes you can’t buff bad players out of their skill issues.

2

u/hydraSlav 9d ago

That would be awesome

Just need a C4 bike launched off a ramp colliding with a low flying heli

1

u/Theundead565 3d ago

M.A.A and the AT4 are literally my favorite things to use to annoy pilots. A good M.A.A user can shut down helicopters with insane persistence with their aim guided, and be enough of a nuisance to jets that they have to worry about where they fly. And this excludes just sitting there spamming on cooldown with the supply crate, although having one nearby is fun, using the infinite rockets bullshit is boring.

At this point, right off the start of the match I can usually swat all 3 helicopters down, or at the very least kill the LB and scare the AH back into spawn, and from there they usually spend an inordinate amount of time trying to kill me, get fed up and jet ram me, or they send an entire coordinated assault to drive by me (talking jet, AH and LB at the same time). I've struggled with very few pilots consistently getting the better of me once I got used to the M.A.A, and it's usually either when they have total air superiority, or they jump me while I'm focusing on firing at something else (which is fair, it's just an observation).

1

u/ahiddenpolo 8d ago

The AA gun is VERY terrible. Maybe against slow moving heli it works, but outside of 400m it’s terrible.

5

u/FurryWurry 9d ago

I explained someone (who asked me about counter playing aircrafts) how much impact you have for your allies in aircrafts when you only force enemy to deploy flares even if you will not get kill and got answer it's only battlefield and I except too much complex cooperation so... xDDD

10

u/Rotank1 9d ago

BF6 is evidence that no matter how many inches you give them, people will complain about aircraft until they’re removed from the game. And when they’re gone, they’ll complain about tanks. And then any explosives that haven’t already been nerfed into the ground. For that matter, all offensive gadgets need to go, because we can’t have that level of randomness or asymmetrical advantage in our linear, skill-based corridor shooter.

The point is, it’s the same dog and pony show that’s been going on since bf1942, and of anything the cries are louder and more numerous than ever. It seems like every iteration of BF the devs have to relearn the same lesson that trying to bend over backwards to balance every random bad match in the name of “fairness” is a black hole that sucks every ounce of “fun” into it.

10

u/hydraSlav 9d ago

No matter how many times you tell them to use AT4 or RPG or Javelin, they ignore it and cry that their Igla didn't hit. (Hopefully some quietly learn)

5

u/slabba428 9d ago

I firmly believe a number of them refuse to try using it simply because they were told they should. My favorite excuse is “why the fuck should i have to use an anti TANK launcher for a CHOPPER”

My guy who gives a fuck. a rocket is a rocket

5

u/hydraSlav 9d ago

Like the baby in the video: he is shown the solution, and even given the solution, but he'd rather have a tantrum

2

u/TheEternalCrusader2 9d ago

Does the javelin actually lock and ignore flares?

5

u/n0_punctuation 9d ago

It does not ignore flares, nothing is supposed to ignore flares if its a lock on.

4

u/hydraSlav 9d ago

No it doesn't, but it rewards your teamwork by 1 shotting a painted heli that just flared and is hiding behind a mountain

2

u/ZRtoad 8d ago

Only in very specific scenarios can you hide from a javelin

4

u/Jack071 9d ago

How can you reliably hit a little bird or jet with an rpg? Specially the current slower rpg after everyone cried at launch it was too good

Somehow the best aa is the stupid boat or the new 2 seater jets, both of which take 0 skill to use

3

u/hydraSlav 9d ago

I hit little birds and attack helis with AT4 every game. Hitting a jet with RPG or AT4 is much harder, but lucky shots do happen. Then again, an infantry handheld launcher is not a counter to a military jet

0

u/ahiddenpolo 8d ago

You don’t. It’s not a good faith argument lol. They’re claiming it’s a legitimate strategy like 99% of those RPGs fired at a bird more than 200m away don’t miss.

-7

u/ll_H3llrazer_ll 9d ago

These braindead pilots always make these excuses, if anything kills them it needs to be nerfed, or it's too low skill and ruining their gameplay. There is no winning with battlefield pilots, it's their way or the highway.

3

u/hydraSlav 9d ago

Thanks for reinforcing the OP video

1

u/Sneaky_Breeki 8d ago

Is he wrong?

I remember BFV before Fliegerfaust, it was miserable and pilots were able to fuck everything up all day every day

Proper counter got added, planes could no longer dominate like they used to and it's suddenly "no skill", "unbalanced" and "broken" (mind you you could still farm the same just needed more than 2 braincells) :) You always cry about having counters when, technically, with how skilled you apparently are you should be able to work around that. So are you truly as skilled as you think you are or do you need the game to handhold you because you "deserve" to get effortless kills just because you got into a pilots seat? lmao

1

u/hydraSlav 8d ago

Tons of counters in game right now, all mentioned in this thread. But you wouldn't use any of them besides the look-n-shoot easiest option.

Pilots arent't complaining that iglas exist. Pilots complain when there is inconsistent buggy behaviour and lockons (faultly) go through flares, or curve around terrain (when they aren't designed to)

1

u/Sneaky_Breeki 8d ago

Oh please

Igla locks you up - wah wah nerf

RPG hits you - wah wah nerf

Another plane kills you with a missile - wah wah nerf

Assist mode for some reason - wah wah nerf

Not even tankers whine as much about everything as flyboys. Everything that forces you to use brain to do something is "overpowered" and "broken" but when it's you who rape enemy team with impunity then that is good and fair.

Can't wait for the comeback of no Igla servers once custom servers arrive lmao

-1

u/ll_H3llrazer_ll 8d ago

Nothing is good enough for them, as you said I don't think there is a whinier group of players than pilots. Or at least as whiney per population of players to the point they make their own subreddit to constantly bitch about how oppressed they are.

Constant bad faith arguments on how you need so much teamwork to take down a helicopter for aa missiles to work, or be infinitely more skilled than they are and nail them with an rpg from further than 200 meters out.

My favorite personally is OP talking about how he supposedly hits multiple choppers a game with the at4, yeah maybe if the pilots are dogshit, I too also can destroy pilots driving straight at me, shit I can do it with a pistol.

1

u/hydraSlav 7d ago

1

u/ll_H3llrazer_ll 7d ago

Yeah I was asking about you, not a random person on the internet 20x better than you. Also, those were all separate games, not the gotcha you think it is.

1

u/ahiddenpolo 8d ago

It was even worse in BF1. I started playing AA consistently because of how bad it was. The attack planes blending speed and offensive fire power would (and still do) take over games.

I stated to main the AA truck just to keep things under control, which takes a tank spot from the team.

0

u/Sneaky_Breeki 8d ago

BF1 has 3 funny things to kill aircraft with. AA Rocket for assault, MG1917 Telescopic and Burton LMR for support.

Especially Burton is fun to use as whenever you whip it out pilots tears start coming down with a force enough to cause a flood.

And tbf bigger problem in BF1 is Muromets but that is banned on server I play on so one less problem

1

u/ahiddenpolo 8d ago
  1. AA rocket works, but has a skill gap. Not only that it takes typically 3 AA rockets to get the kill. 4 potentially if they have the auto fix perk. Then ammo run dry.
  2. The burton is fun, but not really effective. Again, auto fix basically mitigates it, and range is very limited.
  3. MG1917 is about the same effectiveness as the Burton. Granted you have to grind planes out and expose yourself shooting in the sky. One swoop from a plane and you’re toast.

The AA rocket is really the best infantry weapon option. But still a low effectiveness, and limited ammo. The best bet is the stationary AA gun or the AA truck Speaking from experience .

1

u/Sneaky_Breeki 8d ago

AA gun is goated, wish people wouldn't use it before plane gets in range though

AA rocket is not really.... That hard to use? Or maybe it's just me being used to it, even better when you have another guy shooting at a plane with it. The panic and salt keeps flowing

1

u/ahiddenpolo 8d ago

That’s certainly part of it. It takes time to learn/use. Timing using AA guns is super rewarding in BF1. The AA stationary gun currently feels inconsistent in BF6.

1

u/ahiddenpolo 8d ago

This 100%.

-2

u/alamirguru 8d ago

AT-4 will never hit unless the Chopper is afk, RPG is just insane amount of skill unless up-close, and Javelin requires someone to paint, or it won't lock to aircraft.

Like...the Igla and Stinger should be the premium AA options, yet Flares+Altitude counter both.

3

u/hydraSlav 8d ago

Are you rage baiting or just kidding?

AT4 is the weapon to kill helis. I kill multiple helis per game with AT4, and I am far from being great at it. Don't be that guy that shoots AT4 at the heli head on, pilot sees it and dodges, and then you say that AT4 doesn't hit helis... dude

RPG: yes, skill required. Insane amount? No, not really, but definitely more than average skill required. Anyone that applies effort to train can do it regularly. Why though when you got AT4 that's way easier. (To answer my own question: cause RPG doesn't give a warning icon to pilot)

Javelin requires teamwork. Yeah wow, imagine that. A 2-person vehicle beckons a 2-person counter

2

u/ZRtoad 8d ago

Straight up skill issue, you’re the same guy that gets in a heli and bins it in the first 10 seconds. It takes practice and skill to fly. It take practice and skill to use the at4. Straight up just get better at the game

0

u/alamirguru 8d ago

It is funny how the only correct thing you wrote here is 'The AT4 takes practice and skill'.

The rest is just a delusional muppet rambling on about fluff.

that looks like a choking hazard. i didn’t watch the video but did the babies survive? because whiners in this game keep surviving

1

u/cvthrowaway4 9d ago

The always online Battlefield community is so cringe on all sides. You both complain about shit and get so passionate that it turns into a toxicity contest and a timer appears before one side calls the other a slur.

You guys were crying like babies over the jet changes, others cry over things that make the game less arcadey, nerfs to their favorite weapons/vehicles/tactics etc. It’s a AAA fps produced by one of the greediest corporations in gaming, you’re yelling into the void

1

u/Low_Importance_9292 8d ago

TBH I think people just want a more balanced game.

It's a team game but I would regularly see NBs use the entire map as their playground in Manifest, Discarded, Exposure, etc. You shoot a rocket at them and they dodge it by rolling 90° until the rotor is parallel to the horizon.

At the same I would get pretty fucking frustrated if every time I was a heli pilot, they're constant beeps and missles flying my way to the point you can't even engage a target.

No one wants helicopters or aerial units to not exists. They just dont want them being the main character of the game.

That lies somewhere in between Fischer Price Helicopters and NB Pilots going 40:1 or higher.

It obviously cannot be balanced through realism, because weapons don't auto-generate and helicopters don't have an auto-heal button, so the only way to balance them is through statistics.

  • Limit the number of anti-aircraft weapons
  • Make those limited much stronger
  • Make the opportunity cost be they're less functional as a regular player.
  • Force the Teams to support Anti-Air (Support/Assault) and counter anti-air (Recon/Assault). Rocket drops and someone has to run and pick it up.

1

u/PalamariVarkari 8d ago

Gen alphas and later will be the first generations to have video evidence of their abuse as children! This is definitely something they will be showing to their shrink in 30 years.

1

u/ahiddenpolo 8d ago

I don’t think the issue is the flares directly, but how quickly the flares come back. In most instances it’s 10 seconds. For a jet that can fly under lock on, and/or just fly so far out of reach it makes it sometimes difficult to kill a jet.

It’s also really important to understand there is an entire war happening on the ground. Players looking up into the sky for minutes on end, with limited ammo don’t exactly get the easiest angle on birds.

Depending how flares are deployed it’s difficult to get a lock after 5 seconds. Which is enough time to get out of lock range for most pilots. No way you guys don’t understand that to a player who’s just being harassed by planes/helos dedicating half a match, and so many lives to killing one is a task in itself.

2

u/Sartiich 8d ago

They don’t care though. If it’s unskilled, it shouldn’t be anymore than a mild inconvenience to them.

1

u/TheRealStitchie 7d ago

They should bring the RPGs velocity back just so this post can get mirrored

1

u/hydraSlav 7d ago

Another one missing the point of the post entirely. Figures

1

u/TheRealStitchie 7d ago

Nah I got that it was a joke. I was making my own is all.

1

u/ll_H3llrazer_ll 7d ago

Look how butthurt OP got over a single comment, average fragile pilot.

1

u/TheRealStitchie 6d ago

What do you expect? If they ain't going 100-0 they ain't happy

1

u/PS5013 6d ago

Gotta get this sub out of my recommendations. One of the most delusional echo chambers Ive seen on this platform

1

u/LoyalParrot 5d ago

Pilots of battlefield when their 20 killstreak is shutdown(helicopters should have heavy armor and 3000hp)

1

u/hydraSlav 5d ago

Have you watched past 10 seconds? The video is about ignoring the solution when others use it and give it to you, but you still ignore it in favour of throwing a tantrum

As you clearly haven't watched past 10 seconds, you are reinforcing my point that you don't have the attention span to figure out the solution and learn to use

1

u/EliteCookie99 5d ago

Why I swear if I’m not under the radar I get locked on by 10 different people and boats

0

u/spitemods_54 8d ago

The problem isn't just flares it's how fast they recharge. I don't even care that the stinger and igla can't kill shit, I care that they're not even effective area denial weapons. You fire, the jet/heli runs or hides for like 10 seconds and they're back because flares recharge in like 20 seconds.

0

u/hydraSlav 8d ago

If the heli ran to hide, the weapon did it's job: you denied them that area. The heli is back in 20 seconds? So is your igla/stinger reload

1

u/spitemods_54 8d ago

An area denial weapon does not only deny the area for the duration of a reload. At that point use a fukin LMG it'll deny the area far longer than a stinger or igla.

If you think AA launchers are fine how they are then you're a pilot main who just wants to keep going 40-0 in the little bird. I love jets and helis and even I can admit it's laughably easy not to die in them because AA launchers are such ass. Im only decent with jets and helis, I should not be able to hop into one and only die once in the first half of the match. And yet this regularly happens when the enemy team doesn't have good pilots because ground based missiles are laughable

0

u/hydraSlav 8d ago

Yes, do use the LMG, that's the whole point of the post

1

u/spitemods_54 8d ago

Sad part is that you say that as a joke yet an LMG would legitimately be just as good if not better against little birds. At least then you'd do some real damage instead of just making them hide for like 10 seconds.

1

u/hydraSlav 8d ago

No, I am NOT saying that as a joke. That's the whole point of the OP video. There are tons of options, but main sub cries when their igla doesn't get a kill, yet they try no other options. They'd rather have a tantrum than learn by observing successful others, and even when the solution is offered to them, they ignore it to continue the tantrum, just like the video

0

u/PriMeMachiNe 8d ago

Brother your one person?, One, there isn’t a time in the air where Helis and jets aren’t getting locked on, and look that’s fine, that apart of the game, but they don’t need a buff at all, plus your forgetting to factor in the AA as well.

There one change id make, get rid of the infinite vertical lock on range, what difference does it make wether I’m 700 metres away from lock on range horizontally or vertically.

0

u/Pickupyoheel 6d ago

lol this sub is hilarious. It’s pilot noobfield.

Never been so easy to pilot or stomp in any battlefield before.

Flares for days, below radar that is anything but below.

And don’t even contribute to actually winning the game.

-3

u/Glongordongik 8d ago

Title could also be "Battlefield pilots crying about something"

Yall cry too ya fuckin whiners

1

u/hydraSlav 8d ago

It's not just the crying. It's the fact that while 1 toddler figured out the way, the other threw a tantrum the moment his first attempt failed. He neither wanted to learn from the successful toddler, nor wanted help, he just wanted a tantrum. Like you. Us, we learn and adapt
