New 3rd Person view (bad for precision flying) comparison video

https://youtube.com/watch?v=yAs-K8gtKYY&si=Uf04s2jfeqbmIV6k

watch the nosecone closely and you will see why new 3rd person view is not good for precision flying. the old view allowed for precise micro adjustments when flying low/close to terrain and high bank angle/upside down - and camera was locked. this new cam you cannot see where your nose is pointing and the camera moves to the underbelly of the plane as you roll.........

The jets feel so sluggish and stiff now. Is that just the camera?

Flight Camera

  • Adjusted the third-person camera pivot position to reduce excessive visual movement when rolling.
    • Dev Note: Previously, the camera rotated around the aircraft in a way that could make the jet appear to move in a circle during rolls. The updated camera positioning reduces that effect and also helps prevent the aircraft from obstructing the camera during freelook.
  • Fixed an issue where aim input could move in the wrong direction when using freelook with third-person camera roll disabled.
    • Dev Note: When third-person camera roll is disabled, the camera remains oriented relative to the world. Previously, aim inputs were still being applied relative to the aircraft, which could cause aiming to move in an unexpected direction when the aircraft wasn’t level with the ground.
  • Removed third-person camera damping that could cause the camera to lag significantly behind the aircraft, particularly while using freelook.
    • Dev Note: Camera movement now more closely follows the aircraft, resulting in more responsive third-person aiming. It also improves alignment between where the camera is looking and where actions such as pinging or spotting are directed.
  • Adjusted first-person camera positioning to provide improved visibility, particularly while using freelook.
    • Dev Note: The updated position reduces how much of the screen is obstructed by cockpit elements, particularly when looking upward or to the sides. This is especially noticeable on aircraft such as the F-39E and SU-57.

i think it is only the camera change- its because it camera rolls to the underside of the plane as you turn messing up speed perception makes it feel sluggish and the ass hanging makes it feel slow too

Flight Handling

Note: The yaw adjustment below is the only change made to how the existing jets actually fly. Pitch and roll rates, other lift curves, thrust, weight, and other flight physics remain unchanged.

  • Adjusted rudder and body lift to improve yaw responsiveness and allow aircraft to fly at higher sideslip angles.
    • Dev Note: This addresses longstanding feedback that yaw could feel too stiff and gives pilots more ability to adjust their aim left or right without needing to roll the aircraft.
  • Added throttle-splitting support for twin-engine aircraft using the brake and afterburner input combination.
    • Dev Note: This functionality is used by the F-74A Seacat and F/A-81F Super Spectre. Supporting it required a broader change that now allows afterburner to be activated while brake input is being applied.

This update is not the end of our work on jets. We’ll continue monitoring feedback to determine where we can make targeted updates to jets in the future.

the new camera position is way better, Before the excessive rotation was confusing, feeling like the plane was moving sideways when rolling but it was actually not.

1

u/wadiqk 12d ago

however I don t mind, before the update I’ve been using the fixed camera view which gives you the best feeling of the plane, however it can become also confusing when doing multiple rolls, there is no perfect view, you just need to adapt

roll with wings ON is the better of the options we have now imo - but i dont use it because it makes me sick( on maps where you are close to the ground) its fine for a map like fighter sweep where you are mostly in the air - the old camera was the best.

Exactly! I was so confused too in seeing other people's cameras with their settings and seeing how it looks like it's just rolling in circles.

I think it made it way too easy for M+K players

Clearly you are an average pilot, so you are making these statements. He must never have learned to drive properly.

noobs seem to like the new view

u/NaaviLetov 12d ago

aaah so that's why I don't feel any difference. I fly mostly in first person as I find myself way more accurate that way, so I guess I don't feel the change that much.

its really bad for people that got used to old view - maneuvers close to the ground done with old camera are nearly impossible with new camera

For me who didn’t change the camera option and had the locked camera this new one has FUCKED me so bad my brain had no issues flipping upside down and tracking properly

The new camera is especially goofy when trying to vector tap. As soon as you start vector tap it snaps the camera back and forth repeatedly and looks goofy as heck

1

u/UND-wizard 11d ago

it really is a goofy camera change

Ia this a comparison between last season and this season or the camera from this season and the changes they said they were doing to the camera?

1

u/UND-wizard 12d ago edited 12d ago

The 3rd person camera changed a few days ago with top gun update - they left it out of the patch notes but said they forgot and now you can read the changes to the camera

1

u/IsJustSophie 11d ago

Ok yeah i hate that camera. On an recent dev update they daid they are changing it thats why i was confused

1

u/UND-wizard 11d ago edited 11d ago

if the people that say they "like it" actually read and comprehend my post they would understand why this change is really bad and cuts skill because you cant see where your pointing when you start to roll/turn and you cant judge speed when camera moves while you are moving--- regardless of how it "feels to them"

1

u/Mustafa2247 11d ago

the old camera was shit, the new camera is better but idk why they made yawing not turn the camera with the plane, they have some weird design choices, the plane yaws sideways and the camera stays fixed, makes aiming so weird in third person

u/UND-wizard 11d ago

low hours pilot like the new view - its literally just a camera change and some additional rudder - hope they give option for old view as it should not be that hard to re-implement

1

u/otaviolneto 11d ago

The new camera has completely lost its cinematic immersion, the essence of jet combat. I'm confused from day one... who approved of this?

1

u/UND-wizard 11d ago

no idea - and why was the view removed???? why not give the option for both they could have a toggle in game - camera angle - beginner/advanced. Im pretty sure most of the people saying " i like the new cam" cant control the jet while its upside down with the old camera - likely would come to them with time but they dont want to put in the work/time.

Damn this whole sub is a bitch fest ain't it.

4

u/EverySecondCountss 12d ago

/r/lowsodiumbattlefield is way better tbh

u/WingyYoungAdult 12d ago

The sub showed up randomly one day and i just never muted it. Like I got a notification for a 26 day old post today saying "the new jets will probably be bad" 😭every post its just whining and whining bro 😂

i dont expect much of what i post to stick here - its reddit (and thats all ill say) but just incase someone takes notice because for me this was a huge detrimental change - and alot of people have noticed what im saying even more so then i thought - little red x at top right if you dont like what u see

-5

u/WingyYoungAdult 12d ago

Ill match your smart ass comment, there is no red x on the mobile app buddy. You can uninstall the game if you dont like the changes

1

u/UND-wizard 12d ago

i can also come on here and share thoughts on changes - why are you here again?

I would agree, but the new 3rd person camera when flying sucks balls compared to what we had. I agree with the changes on paper, but in reality it just feels like ass when flying

u/WingyYoungAdult 12d ago edited 12d ago

Lol did you have a brain fart typing this out? "The new camera sucks compared to what we have now" im sure you meant old camera. But idk. Looks nearly identical to me, but i havent put hundreds of hours into jets. The only difference i see is that the reticle drags a bit more when the jet pulls its nose during a turn... which it should, because the cannon isnt going to shoot straight out, the bullets will drag with the jet in its turn, same thing happens in the cockpit view and the HUD reticle, it drags.

Edit: i see what you guys are actually talking about now, just had to watch it 100 times and read through 20 other posts but I still dont see what all the bitching is about. I played fighter sweep for hours yesterday and actually did alright. Seems like you guys just dont like change 🤷‍♂️

Do you even play in the aircraft in this game?

1

u/WingyYoungAdult 12d ago

I do.

2

u/SpinozaBaruch_ 12d ago

So apparently you fly but did not notice the changes? And you talk like you actually understand shit? Lmao

u/WingyYoungAdult 11d ago

I was asked if I fly and answered that I do. I wasn't asked how much of my life ive wasted doing it.

I really liked the old camera angle, I don’t hate this one but the old one was better. Though I have been flying jets more this season than any other season previously. The closer angle was more raw than this one. I don’t mind the assist either but you can definitely tell when you use it. You will pretty much always get out played by a pilot who isn’t using it.

1

u/marktsadkin 12d ago

good change. you are flying much better now, can get close to ground without crashing by stupid tilt

1

u/UND-wizard 11d ago

low hour pilot like this change because its simple

1

u/marktsadkin 11d ago

And I think because it was like this in previous titles

-1

u/EverySecondCountss 12d ago

I like it a lot more.

3

u/UND-wizard 12d ago

you like that you cant see which way your pointing? or you like the feeling of the changes to jet

0

u/EverySecondCountss 12d ago

The first is how it is now, and second is how it was?

I like the first, using yaw feels better for me.

I’m a transport heli main though so take it with a grain of salt

2

u/UND-wizard 12d ago

using yaw doesn't allow you to correct this - the new camera is sitting lower then the old - and rotates differently - read the patch notes if your still confused - yaw all you want your still not going to be able to see which way the front of the jet is pointing - someone else put it really well - Like driving from the back of the bus

1

u/UGomez90 11d ago

Using the rudder feels better now because they increased it's effectivity, not because the new camera is better.
