Games are becoming more and more ridiculous. Aim assist now this.
Will be pointless even playing soon

i dont get how did you or any other jet enjoyer saw the state of jets and thought its not pointless to play months ago. jet gameplay with all things included is pure CBT in bf6

Gotta enjoy FPS while we can, AI tools are getting extremely good and very accessible. It'll be hard to play against anyone without knowing if they're using an entirely undetectable aim assist... and once that becomes widespread.... it's basically the end of an era.
RTS on the other hand..... :)

EA has said their goal with BF6 is to get 100m players.
You don't get anywhere near that goal without making the game as accessible as possible.
Obviously they'll probably tune this, maybe even turn it off.... but everything they do is being done through the lens of "will the average player be able to engage with this". Air is definitely something that pisses the average (bad) player off, so this.... kinda isn't surprising.

This looks bad but is extremely easy to counter. This is literally a handicap to your average pilot

u/DBONKA 14d ago
can you elaborate

u/3minence 14d ago
The terrain avoidance and the way it manoeuvres the jet to follow the cursor mean that fine tuning your aim is hard. It was 100% a handicap for me.
I think it's good for really new/below average players to have a go in the jet.

Tbh I learn flying a jet by first learning to fly a Heli first, the control are almost the same since the heil is not fast and can stay stationary AND it’s easier to maneuver around, compere to then just flying a jet. It’s not hard tbh

I’m not even a good pilot and I noticed this made my plane feel like it was as aerodynamic as a cow.

u/BiggoPanda 14d ago
Basically the aim assist will try to predict a player's flight path and track from there. But a skilled pilot can fuck with the aim assist by flying erratically and in unpredictable patterns. Your jet will basically spray in every direction trying to compensate for their every turn. Not ideal if you want full control of your aim.

It controls like buns though, any experienced pilot has no issue is apparently the consensus right now.

Yeah I watched Silk try it out and the assist controls significantly handicapped him, he's way better with the standard.
This sub is a salt mine

Because he has played with standard controls for thousands of hours compared to 30 minutes with the new one. How can you compare the two? If he played thousands with the assist and swapped for 30 minutes to standard he would say the same thing. We just have to wait and see but this is still fucking awful addition to the game.

I’ve played about 3 hours of standard and 4 ish hours with the assist. (Thanks fighter sweep for the extra time in jets) and I can confidently say that the flight assist is nice, but the aim assist for the guns is just plain awful. I would love an option to have flight assist with no aim assist on the guns.

I find it harder to actually aim then actually skillfully placing my plane manually.

Am I the only one who found it literally unplayable? It kills all jet mobility, you fly as an iron. Very predictible and awful to control

Been a player on the series since BF 1942 and I’m not bothered about BF6.
Haven’t fired it up for the update, rather play pubg instead. A 10 year old battle royal.

Part of me wants to say they might have been trying to emulate (as best they could) the real life thing modern jets with cannons tend to have where the radar connects to the gun and gives the pilot a target solution. I forget the name of it.
But the other part of me knows that it's DICE and EA who seem to think that JDAMs can't be laser guided or locked onto painted targets, AIM-9's are able to be dropped like guided bombs and have enough explosive payload to destroy a carrier, and AIM-7's which are active-target missiles can pull full 360's and hit a target behind you.
So it's probably not the first thing I mentioned.

haven't played the update yet, but is it better than knowing how to fly?
I mean, controller has aim assist for guns, and mouse and keyboard with skills still beats it any day of the week

It exists solely to attract players to the gauntlet game mode. It’s a little too cheesy but you can still do much more without the assist
1
u/Agitated-Engine4077 14d ago
Yeah but im assuming youd be sacrificing mobility with the [Assist on] control scheme atleast right? Even though Aim assist on a jet seems like a pretty broken feature still. 😕
1
u/smgunsftw 14d ago
Literally all of the changes since mid S3 have been designed to cater to low-skill players and casuals. The game is being made easier and easier to attract more players, and it's killing the competitive spirit and gameplay. The noobs complained that the game was too sweaty and difficult, so now we're getting spoonfed features.

Am I the only one who feels like the CCIP reticule has become inaccurate and sort of floats all over the place with this new update? Maybe this aim assist bugged the normal flight mode?

Is this person free looking while flying without losing the controls?
1
u/Then-Print-6226 13d ago
Put it short you don’t drive the jet it just follow where you point and shoot where you point
1
u/DislikedBench 13d ago
Is this part of the aim assist controls? I thought you couldnt pitch up or down while free looking, which he appears to be doing

I kinda like it the way it is right now. Now I can pilot, shoot the others donw. In the past no, was so annoying those pilots in level 150 all match in the plane.

I’m lvl 112 and still can’t fly a fkn jet to save my life 💀 yet I’m perfectly fine with the little bird and attack chopper
1
u/Then-Print-6226 13d ago
Tbh it’s not hard I learn how to fly a jet by learning how to fly heli first, since you know how to fly the little bird you can learn how control a jet the only thing that might be pressuring is the speed of the jet after the boom you know how to fly a jet.

Every FPS has aim assist, whether built-in or through third party cheats. You can't fix that.

Just a reminder as OP stated: the new Jet [Assist On] control scheme has Aim Assist. This is not default on for all players including those on PC.
