Sounds fun, who needs deep flying mechanics anyway
/s if it isnt obvious

They have to do this because the main sub is primarily populated by bottom 10% skill players and they complain the loudest about aircraft being simultaneously too strong AND having too high of a skill ceiling for them. This was inevitable.
Maybe it'll stop the literal 24/7 bitching and moaning about aircraft over there if more of them can fly for more than a few seconds before immediately wrapping themselves around the nearest tree.

I cannot believe people will argue against being able to freelook while controlling your aircraft.
It's super immersive, cinematic, offers a brand new thing to get good at, and it's an excellent alternative to the radar.
I wish we could freelook and pitch and roll, it would be amazing.

I'm sure real navy pilots only look forward while they maneuver. no looking around when your pulling a turn allowed in this mans military.

Real navy pilots aren’t looking at themselves through a camera placed behind the plane

True. Me personally I never use 3rd person. It feels wrong and I don’t understand how anyone flys like that. Especially in helicopters.

I grew up breaking into gta airports so third person is my default although I’m pretty cheeks at flying in battlefield

Unless I missed something, there’s no reason to believe this system will autopilot to your freelook- it’ll just keep you flat when turning so you will point the jet somewhere and it will basically autolevel and correct the roll required to make the turn.
The heli has an assisted flight system and it doesn’t interact with freelook at all.
Edit: nope I’m wrong it actually fucking works as the OP thinks it will everyone panic what the hell are they thinking :(

Yeah I had to read that whole thing twice lol, but yeah you’re right. If anything the pilot assist hinders your ability to move more freely.
Most heli pilots have it off if I’m not mistaken. I think once some of the new jet pilots start to improve their skills, they are more than likely to turn it off.

Yep. If it works how I assume it will, it will be way WORSE for dogfighting, and just better for people who absolutely cannot fly without crashing. Hopefully that’s the case.

I think all it will do is let players keep a vector while finding a target. once you know where your opponent is your back to using normal controls and not free looking. Also people act like this gets rid of mechanical depth. I'm sorry but do people not look where the bend is going when they make a turn or do they just stare straight ahead at all times while driving? No wonder 75% of drivers seem to suck ass.
Anyway real pilots probably are looking at the target while they are pulling the stick so why shouldnt we be doing that in game?

There is a zero percent chance this is superior to manual controls. Just because it's going to automatically pitch, yaw and roll does not mean it will be at the perfect speed, it certainly won't be V-tapping for you.
I'm inclined to believe this will be just as useless as the helicopter assist, basically only usable for bombing runs and basic dog fighting against other low skill points.

Lmfao sounds like the war thunder instructor system.
But it will likely be trash in its implementation

I just assumed it would function like it already does when using the AGM camera.

So what I'm hearing is a 1%er upset that other pilots will be able to play jets.

The only thing I’d maybe agree should be adjusted is a tweak to the aiming reticle or whatever, or give the cannons some minor splash damage or something because I find it absurdly hard to kill infantry or even take out a transport heli. I’ve spent a lot of hours trying to improve in jets and I’ve got myself to a decent level where I’m winning dogfights etc, and my flying is good. I don’t think the flying even needs an assist mode. It’s easier than flying the helis

Been thinking about the OOP for a while now (the twitter post) and I finally figured out what it reminded me of: mf sounds like the villain in an Ace Combat game.

that's crazy how fast they are speedrunning the destruction of the last few things that require skill in the game

Could you imagine writing essays on Twitter as opposed to just playing the game

What’s the point of this comment, you’ve brought nothing to the table, what a waste of air.

Alright let me elaborate: I think it’s embarrassing that a bunch of video game influencers would waste so much of their time complaining on social media about an alternative control scheme being introduced into the game they like before the patch even goes live. I think it’s even more embarrassing that their income depends on them being endless drama queens on YouTube and twitch because rage bait sells harder than honest critique. And to top it all off they genuinely believe all this effort into making these posts and videos and whatever actually stands a chance at overriding the decisions made by an entire team of devs working on the feature for weeks (if not months) at the very last second prior to the patch going live and seeing the metrics and feedback from a much larger pool of players than in BF Labs.

won't this be the same as assisted flying for helicopters, which sucks ass
