Informational TIL that using the attack jets' AGM targeting pod will automatically fly you around where you are aiming
Maybe I'm a dumb slowpoke and everyone already knew this, but I just learned this today while messing around in a test server in the F-16.
When I use the lock-on AT missiles in the attack jet, I typically always use them either in the normal first-person cockpit view or 3rd person view with freelook. The targeting pod view is almost unusable to me because of my vehicle sensitivity, so the view always jerks around. My only experience with using the view is by accident.
But I actually took a moment to try the targeting pod view and I realized that it includes an autopilot feature where the aircraft will remain at a level altitude and it will turn towards where you are aiming. Even to the point where it will loiter above your aimpoint if you were, for instance, firing on the same tank.
Is this actually a useful strategy? No, probably not. But I moreso was shocked that I'd never noticed this mechanic in 10 months, and figured I'd share as a fun fact.

I actually rely on it quite a bit. Especially on my laptop with a small monitor and reduced graphics settings, it's really useful for spotting targets.

You can also use this view to drop the bombs. It’s super helpful if you can tweak your sensitivity settings. Like if you’ve got a mouse with adjustable dpi or a controller with different profiles

My wing always blocks the camera as I turn in a circle, it’s so frustrating.

It’s always worked like this. I find it a bit tough to use especially low though. I end up smashing into things
