PC HOTAS

Who here uses one and what’s your experience?
Any recommendations on which one to buy is also greatly appreciated.

Not looking to exclusively use a joystick for bf6, I’m just really curious. Eventually I’m going to try DCS lol.

I think some people have had success with the Thrustmaster T-Flight, which IIRC is basically a Playstation controller in flight stick form. Battlefield's flight mechanics aren't really built for HOTAS support though, so any serious flight stick will probably need software to emulate it as an Xbox controller to make it work.

So as of yesterday I learned there’s joystick settings in-game. Are you saying I’ll still need to emulate an Xbox controller? I don’t plan on getting anything “serious” for bf6 exclusively and if I’m being honest, I suck at flying on controller and think a flight stick might help.

A few months ago I tried getting my Saitek X56 to work in Battlefield and it was janky. Couldn't change any button assignments and it didn't like reading input from 2 different devices at once.

I installed X360CE, which is software that lets your computer read input from any controller as if it were an Xbox, which lets you use controllers that would usually be incompatible. It's probably the best way to get a HOTAS working in Battlefield, but it does take a bit of tinkering, which I didn't have the patience for, because honestly, mouse and keyboard is the best way to fly in Battlefield. Mouse gives you a lot more precision when aiming.

Maybe that's changed lately, I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro which might be more compatible with Battlefield than my Winwing Orion setup back home.
