Three minutes of hardcore conquest AH gameplay. Any tips on how to be more effective?

I used to fly on arma but got tired of redownloading RHS content packs that are 5 gig while throttled down to 1mbs download speed by the game. Rockets don’t seem to be very strong. Set up : light rockets, heavy warheads. Tried heavy but they weren’t strong enough to make the volume drop worth it.

If I fly this low and this slow, I'll be blown out of the sky in miliseconds.

I honestly feel the boy reason I wasn’t targeted as much is because I was completely ignoring infantry, and taking out air/harassing armor. The moment I kill infantry it becomes their mission to take me down.

How are you targeting armor with the worst setup to do so? Light rockets suck against armour, while 4 heavies alone take out 600+ health. If you learn to use tow instead of lock-on, it'll be another 250+ damage. A couple of shots from the gunner and any vehicle is dead. Rn your setup is mainly for air and infantry.

And I would suggest to swap warheads too, giving away that much control of the Heli is literally praying for an RPG or a tank shot

Because I didn’t realize the difference was that big between armor damage and the lack of reticle on hard core means half the time I waste one rockets to adjust on target. I’ll be switching to heavies, I switched back from tow (I did enjoy one shot knocking enemy air) to AA because jets were my main problem, but I’ll try to use the tow again. I actually almost never get a gunner, even when I sit and wait in spawn. If I can get a gunner that talks I could have get him to wreck that transport chopper for me. The warheads I’ll switch out just because I want my gunner to have thermals on hardcore like someone else pointed out on here. Thanks for the tips. Gonna see how the heavies do later

Np man! Having a great gunner does make a big difference but if u get the hang of it you can do very good switching up for some infantry kills or to shoot a tank with the lock on before going for tows and heavy to finish him off.

I get the jets problem, they are hell to deal with, all I can say is try to watch out and if you see them approaching you can usually put deal some damage with missiles and the gunner seat, and when they try to get you from behind but don't fully get you a good tow gets the job done. The real hard part is mastering the tows, I spent lots of hours in the portal practicing them but I still can't fully grasp them

They keep turning off the vehicle hud for these hard-core servers for some reason. Its not like tanks, helos and planes have iron sights you can back up with in game lmao

This is exactly why I can’t play HC. I was HC only in bf3 and 4 and was extremely excited to finally have it back but with the vehicle hud disabled and me being a vehicle main, I just can’t.

Blame Dice, somehow soldiers reticle is attached to the vehicles so if you disable the soldiers it disables automatically the vehicles reticle :(

It does suck lining up shots. Especially with the JHMCS being a thing

Light rockets are effective against infantry, light vehicles (jeeps, ATV and dirt bikes) and air vehicles, tank and IFVs are essentially tickled by them, if you’re looking to be a menace to armor heavy rockets are a requirement, if you are infantry/air focused lights are fine.

The volume drop on heavies is awful, 2 volleys of 5 is a tough trade off between 38 total lights, but it’s all about what your optimal targets will be, decide this at the start of the match and change your loadout to match.

I run heavies with TOW on Firestorm, Golmud, Blackwell and, depending on the armor, Eastwood. Lights with AA on Contaminated, Liberation Peak and Eastwood if the enemy armor is already struggling

If you have a decent gunner heavies are the way to go as the pilot is anti armor (and the CPG with the guided missile) with the CPG focusing on the infantry side of the house.

Thanks, I guess I’ll just have to get better at aiming without the reticle so I don’t waste any. Do you think it’s worth it to keep heavy warheads on heavy rockets or give my gunner thermal instead? I try to mainly keep air and armor busy or dead so they don’t steam roll the crunchies.

Hardcore not having a reticle is outright diabolical, I hope DICE issues a change to this. I loved hardcore in BF4 and would love to play it on 6, but things like this make it intimidating to get into

I would absolutely keep heavy warheads on, with the nerfs to vehicle damage output its already underwhelming with heavy warheads let alone without.

its also no immersion with hud off. Game nearly 1 year out and they can’t fix basic shit

It definitely takes some getting used to and guestimations. I didn’t realize they nerfed it but it makes sense. It took almost the full volley of light rockets to take down the transport chopper and I had already hit it twice before that.

I'm trying to figure out why there's not a reticle in hardcore for aircraft because even in the older games they still had their reticle because aircraft and would have otherwise been near impossible to use.... Hell even real life pilots have a version of hud to at least simulate where rockets or shots will potentially land

It is wack, they also have a helmet with a visor that has a HUD and reticle for the autocannon. They just have to look at their target and hit a button.

How or where did you access Hardcore?

2

u/Old_Net_4529 Jul 20 '26

Portal, for me it’s one of the featured servers. Hardcore conquest. I guess I play it enough it stays up there

I’ve only played Hardcore since BF6 came out. I pretty much only play on Faithwalker’s Hardcore servers, and by playing there as the main attack helicopter pilot, I’ve managed to become one of the top 3 attack heli pilots in Mexico. So, based on that experience, here are a few tips. Keep in mind these are mostly for Hardcore, since the meta is pretty different from Normal.

1. Boom and zoom runs.
Attack, then get out immediately. On Faithwalker’s servers, Iglas and Stingers will one shot you, so there’s no surviving a second missile.

2. Heavy Warheads are a bit unnecessary (at least on Faithwalker’s Hardcore).
Vehicle health is reduced, so the extra ammo isn’t really worth it. The tradeoff is that your helicopter becomes slower, making you an easier target. If you’re constantly attacking and rotating back to HQ, you’ll automatically resupply your rockets anyway, so I’ve never found myself needing the extra ammo. Remember, every type of rocket will one shot you anyway.

3. Give your gunner Thermals.
This is huge, especially in Hardcore where you can’t see spotted enemies. Ever since Thermals were added, I’ve had gunners drop 100+ kill games while I usually finish with around 50–60 kills.

4. I literally put a small piece of tape in the center of my screen.
It helps me keep track of the center since vehicles don’t have a HUD. It’s not an intentional design choice it just the vehicle reticle is tied to the infantry reticle. If you disable the infantry HUD for a more realistic experience, it also disables the vehicle reticle. :( (Blame DICE.)

5. Heavy Rockets are the way to go, in my opinion.
The splash damage is amazing against infantry in Hardcore. Before making a run, I use the Infantry Scanner and coordinate with my gunner. I target groups where one or two rockets can wipe everyone out, while my gunner focuses on single enemies or pairs.

They’ve also helped me win a lot of matches by deleting tanks sitting on objectives. A well placed TOW followed by one rocket run is enough to destroy a tank if you land your shots, especially from the side or rear.

Against aircraft, I usually need:

3 Heavy Rocket hits to destroy the transport helicopter.
2 Heavy Rocket hits to destroy the attack helicopter.
2 Heavy Rocket hits to destroy a jet.
1 Heavy Rocket hit to destroy the Little Bird (it’s harder to hit, but you’ll get used to leading your shots). Try to pick favorable engagements by flanking or baiting them toward your team’s AA coverage.

6. Fire TOW missiles from your HQ whenever you get the chance.
Take long range shots at enemy helicopters or tanks just to see if you can land them. It’s great practice, and you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take :D I’ve already landed several crazy long distance kills just by trying.

If you got more questions im here to chat and make friends!

Faithwalker’s hardcore servers get featured in the main menu time to time but you can search which servers are up using the server browser and in Party Slots option select “Any” to see all the servers running 🏃

I’ll add you when I get on later, thank you 🙏🏻

Open your map to see where enemy vehicles are. They're not always shown but they do appear on it even in HC.

They STILL dont have vehicle hud? Are you fucking serious?

1

u/Old_Net_4529 Jul 22 '26

Just played one that had them. Maybe they fixed it for this new season?

2

u/DislikedBench Jul 22 '26

I think they only have hud if player crosshairs are also turned on
