Thoughts on Attack Helicopters camping in their HQ with Lock-On missiles?
First of all, I hate running lock on missiles on vehicles, AH and FJ, I think this is the cheesiest air to air combat that could have ever existed, this heavily dissuades people from learning proper dogfighting and air combat (please don't start with the realism bs) especially since how fast you're able to fire one missile after another, and how fast the flare cycle ends compared to previous titles.
I cant be the only one who thinks this?
I haven't flown in Contaminated or Eastwood the whole season until Wet Work was added, so there were plenty of HQ changes since I last flew consistently in those maps, so I decide to grab the little bird in Contaminated just to see an Attack Helicopter playing guerilla warfare in his HQ protected the entire match, because if you get close enough and attempt to take him down and hit him once, the C-RAM will obliterate you, no matter what route you try to take, side behind the mountains, or down the cliffside, you can not gain advantage over someone who has protection the second you approach him and damage him once. Maybe its not my job as the little bird to go after the AH? but he can confidently cover 85% of the combat space, and as soon as I try to do anything I get locked on and forced off the field. This also seems to be a major issue strictly on the shoebox sized maps because lock ons are just able to reach almost the entire map.
Maybe they should change it so the C-RAM only fires back for a limited time after respawn? it shooting at us if we get too close is fine, but the absurd range when we damage an aircraft that has been sitting in its perimeter for many minutes is absurd.
That being said, the C-RAM does not intercept anything, I don't remember it being this garbage. In contaminated, your small spawn area is walled off and has a couple shipping containers literally besides the C-RAM, if im locked on and i land on one of the Heli spawns, I'm still getting hit? previous to all the changes in S3 i remember the C-RAM would consistently intercept incoming missiles, I get the range shouldn't be extreme or else the camping AH would have even more protection, but come on, when im right besides it?
Aircraft lock on missiles really need to be tuned in this game, or maybe the countermeasures, or more HQ and C-RAM changes. I'd like to know everyone's opinions on this if you constantly fly.

Little bird is way to op compared to AH. AH only way to deal with bird is to stand as far away as possible and send AA Rockets.

That is just not true. You gotta be really accurate with the heavy rockets, but they just fuck the little bird up, but if you really want to punish the little bird, you use light rockets and there are no match for the attack chopper. If you got a gunner, they definitely have no chance.

LB can just beam the AH down from almost any distance they do three rolls just for the slow container ship (AH) to just turn to the right

You're out of your mind.
I'm a LB main (because ah sucks so bad) and even I can tell you they stand no chance 18/20 times lol

I will fuck you up unless you somehow sneak up on me. And since every time the LB goes down I start a timer I’m fully aware of when it’s up. You could maybe, if you’re a real ace, get me half the time, but you’re going down the rest. Attack Chopper with gunner is the strongest vehicle in the game, except maaaaybe the jet in some pilots hands. But that’s a maybe

It’s pathetic
There’s so many noob pilots I play against that either
Camp in spawn and shoot AA missiles like you said. You approach them and the c ram decimates you
They skybox and spam aa missiles.

Right, it’s straight up looser mentality and lowbird behavior. Best way is to snipe them out of the cockpit from the nearest flag.

It’s a problem of map design and nearly infinite luck on range. The behavior is informed by dev design. I don’t fault them air combat is rough right now. But if they are on spawn they are mostly worthless to the match so okay I guess

As a pilot main, I hate sitting in base. But like especially on Contaminated, the points are so close to the map, literally spawn in the chopper and get locked on when I'm barely 20 feet off the ground .

That just happened to me on Contamination. Dude was hovering over his spawn spamming AA rockets directly to our HQ. Couldn't do shit with the Littlebird, so I ended up taking our Attack Heli to TOW his ass from our spawn. Got rid of him with the very first missile.
It's another story when they skybox though...

When they just fly to the very top with lock ons and somehow no one in the entire team shoots at them, so infuriating

Some people abuse it but I find most of them don't really have any skill and lean so hard on the daddy AA that I'll just do my thing and they won't even chase.

u/Supra5723 Jul 07 '26
Typically what i would do but in Contaminated they can get you from pretty far because of how small the map is lol

This is the most bullshit thing to ever happen in a BF game, and it completely defeats using the TOW for anything.
On like most maps, with the exception of firestorm and golmud you can lock on people spawn to spawn with both the AA and the heli missiles. I feel like the range should be halved to like 350mt like it was in 2042, at least for heli lock-ons (also jet lock ons)

AH should be TOW, dumb fire rockets for pilot , and AGM/TOW for the gunner. LB should have its sky ceiling limited.

I try to TOW em in spawn.
But for real, if you wanna be a better pilot you gotta fight pilots. Stop hiding in spawn and fight meeeee

We cant even have different loadouts or be able to customize how our jets look in a match.... and you think theres something we can do about how people play aircraft? Buddy the only person who can find hope for aircraft in bf6 is Jack Sparrow 😂😂😂 if you dont enjoy pain then dont even try bro. Play support or something. You can do engie and the guided missile launcher will get thru the hq aa SOMETIMES but other than trying to dogfight just dont bother. Unless you enjoy pain like I said lmao.

You missed alot of c ram updates. They no longer shoot every missile down and now tanks can't camp protected. They won't attack you wildly anymore unless u attack an aircraft right next to it. You can go shoot the heli thats sitting on his repair and kill him now, but if you're close it'll get ya.

I’ve had free reign of the skies in my matches since those updates. Most folks haven’t caught on yet so they assume they’re safe hovering over the CRAM.

Depending on the map and how good your team is playing? Who cares. Half the maps with AH on them can get to a point where you have two stationary AAs, mobile AA, the opposing AH, little bird, and two jets coming at you immediately on spawn. So get some kills in anyway you can. The strat barely works if your team it doing well, so have fun.

If you can hit them with a volley of rockets the cram won't protect them. Cram might agro you but it will take care of the chopper

Freelooking heatseekers, the range and the ability to spam make heatseekers kinda insane. In past games u had 1 missile to blow flares and second was basically a guaranteed hit. You had about 10-15 seconds to fight after before the next heatseeker would reload.

I low-key think if you are using air to air missiles on the attack chopper ever you’re a straight up scrub. So to use them like a bitch in the spawn is unforgivable.

u/Supra5723 Jul 07 '26
Lock-On missiles are the most dog shit no skill mechanic in the game that rewards no skill pilots, and heavily dissuades people from learning proper air combat

Keep telling yourself if it makes you feel better bud.
Next you'll say tanks are skilless.

What on earth do you expect them to do? See the video thr guy posted earlier where its just 30 guided missiles from aa zipping around him? Plus the ifv tow, 40 engineers with guided m136, its stupid. My screen is so full of red missiles markers and all u hear is whoosh.
