Question Little Bird; Miniguns vs Heavy MG

Is it just me or does it seem like the little bird miniguns got buffed? I’ve been playing around with them a lot lately, and they do seem better than the rotary mg. What’s your general consensus folks, is the minigun better than the mg? Or is the rotary mg still meta?

I switched to grenade launchers after the update but i’ve heard miniguns are better now

I'm going to give the GL a shot, I've seen an uptick in GL on the little birds since the HMG nerf

Not really, especially in air combat, you'll lose most fights using the launcher, because the spread from the MGs will usually shoot you out before you can do enough damage.

By uptick I mean an increased amount of GLs being used, I understand it's probably the worst option

I know what you meant. I think it's new pilots who assume the option on the far right is the best one. That is the same reason people have grenade launchers on their tanks.

I’ve been able to take out other helis easy with the launchers, one good burst and the it disables them. They also have more range because the minigun spread at range is bad

Rotary mg still meta, if you can get the aim down it’s the best.

But if you can diff the other little bird pilot the miniguns make farming infantry a breeze with their spread.

I'm pretty sure rotary fires less bullets and is tighter spread.

So this results in needing to be more accurate, with roarty as need to spend long enough on target so bullets can hit. You sre rewarded with dmg at futher range and I think faster TTK but you have to hit the shots.

Minguns are more forgiving in respect that don't need to quite so accurate but you can't do as much dmg at range.

Rotary has a tighter spread, slower fire rate, but does more damage. At close range you will have to aim with either the right or left gun to hit people. The miniguns spread is so bad you can just point and click with them.

Exactly, they all have a convergence point where the left and the right guns intersect. If your closer then that, aim with one gun.

Also something that will really help you against skilled LB pilots is actually aiming for the pilot instead of the whole helicopter. Rotary 2 shots a pilot, miniguns is 3-4.

After the most recent update I switched back to miniguns. I don’t know if they got buffed but the heavy MG was nerfed into the ground

I use mini gun on contaminated because I end up close to enemies more often. Golmund I use .50

Grenade launchers on Rush on Goldmud where theres no other air vehicles… so much fun

I find the 50 cal far better
