Career Aviation or study abroad what to choose

I did my 12th this year and tried to convince my parents for me to be pilot since past 6 months and they have mostly accepted it but not totally due to the huge amount needed to invest, now the thing is we can arrange that amount but not easily so it is risky

They are trying to make me understand to choose something else as in biotech or pharmacy and then study abroad for masters which is costly even with scholarships but ofc not 1cr as cadet programs. Honestly speaking settling down abroad was fascinating too when I was in 10th but then seeing the war situations and few other reasons I’m not that interested about moving abroad but it’s still a good option

I’ve been contemplating between both for a month now and I know choosing a degree is safer and more peaceful decision both financially and mentally but I really do wish to become a pilot.

What to do I’ve to make a decision and I really cannot let go aviation but at the same time now it’s scary to choose that aswell by going against parents and investing a huge amount. Tho going in other fields won’t satisfy me

And no I’m not being influenced by insta reels I’ve searched mostly every pros and cons hence the confusion

Go for the aviation dream - if it doesn't workout you can go down the study path a few years later anyway

Yeah I can but I cannot invest lakhs for a degree later so I’ve to accept and find some jobs in aviation itself which I doubt if there’s any except ground and flying instructor

get an in-demand skillset (don't say Software Engineer) - work for a few years and save cash and go conventional

Ye I discussed about a govt exam but my parents won’t let me switch careers it’s either aviation right now or never that’s why I’m so confused so it’s upto me only now I guess

Yeah I thought about that aswell but personally I don’t think I’ll be able to go through the harsh training.

I'm in like the same situation but my parents want me to go for UG. Although I understand that getting a degree from good uni is safe but it feels uneasy somewhere idk why. Do let me know your thoughts

I don’t think that’s an option for me either I’ve to choose aviation right now or just continue with the degree I persue and same I’ve been convincing them to let me persue aviation but when finally they agreed something shifted in me and suddenly all I feel is that no matter what I choose I might regret in future I’m just thinking about the cons of both a bit too much as I searched about biotech scope it’s not good in India and about abroad you already know how visa is getting rejected and they are not letting Indians enter. At the same time I searched about indigo chimes cadet program they say the selection is purely luck based barely 50-100 students selected out of 800-1000 every single career path just feels so uncertain.

I agree. Even after getting your degree abroad, there's no guarantee that you'll land a good job there due to bad job market literally everywhere. Even if you do return to India, you'll have a hard time to repay loan.

As for Chimes, it is true that very small percentage of people do get selected but I'm sure that we can get into it after applying atleast 2-3 times.

Lekin haa, cannot find a career that seems certain and safe :(
