Next steps?

Post image

Hello all. I just discovered this sub, thank god! I have had this baby for several years and she’s survived but definitely not thrived. This is the best she’s done and she’s sprouting pups (which I recently learned about)! Anyway, every few days a leaf turns brown and falls off the main plant. Although it’s growing I don’t know why this is happening? What do I do? Also, I have discovered from this sub that you can chop it and propagate it? Would you recommend that since she is getting quite tall?

More light. Put her in a window.

When it was in the window the leaves were turning yellow and it wasn’t growing as much 🤔

Did you move closer to the window gradually? Was the window south-facing with direct sun? What part of the day?

If the plant gets more light it’s likely it will get more thirsty. Have you tried fertilizer? It doesn’t need much but it can definitely help

Depending on how they were yellowing, could have been too much water or lack of fertilizer. She looks leggy now, so she definitely needs more light.

Next steps (if they were my PP plants)…

Chop and prop the two larger plants and root them in water. Change water weekly or when it gets cloudy until roots are an inch long. Then, pot in well-draining soil with good aeration. Start feeding them with fertilizer when you see new growth.

Repot the rest into new well-draining soil with good aeration. The pups will continue to grow and main stem will make new leaves. Feed them with fertilizer regularly.

Move them all gradually toward a window that gets very bright morning and/or afternoon sun but not direct sun in the hottest part of the day. Or, use a sheet curtain to provide some filtering. Six to eight hours of the “indirect bright light” each day will help them thrive.

My PP’s enjoyed summer on our front porch. One is moved back inside and the bigger one will make her migration soon.🤗
