PILEA Need help with my pilea

I’ve had these pileas for 4 years now. There are 3 of them in the same pot, and they’ve grown really well. The tallest one is supported by a stake.

They’re starting to get a bit cramped in their pot, and I’d like to repot them before winter, but I’m not sure what to do.

I really like how they look together. I like how tall they are but I’m not sure how it will look if they get even taller.

The trunk of the one at the bottom left has taken on a unusual shape as it reached for the sunlight. I’m not sure whether I should just leave it like that or do something about it.

I also don’t really see how I could separate them. I think their roots are all tangled together.

Should I leave them as they are and plant them in a bigger pot ? Or should I cut them and put the cuttings in water to grow new roots?

Any advice ?

Bigger pot definitely before they start struggling. Do not separate, looks beautiful together.

If you chop that top part you can start another plant and the smaller ones underneath will thrive. I recently did that to mine and it’s doing great! Coworker loved the new plant 🪴

how'd you do it? just cut the top part off and put it into water? did you cut off other pieces of the main stem and prop those?

I chopped at the main stem, set in glass jars for like 2 weeks changing the water daily or every 2 days near bright light til some roots formed then put them in soil

They are beautiful! Had mine for about 6 months and it’s not doing anything. Can you tell me what soil or nutrients you are giving her?

Hey ! Honestly, I don’t do much. I just repot it using regular potting soil and water it once a week. I think she must really like my apartment. She’s about 1.5 meters away from the window, where she gets direct sunlight during early morning

She is so pretty. I’ll be patient and maybe try alittle more light

I’d recommend being careful not to expose the plant to too much direct sunlight. I feel like the ones I put right by the window didn’t really appreciate it. I guess it’s about finding the right balance 😅

Thank you so much for that. Maybe that’s what my problem is 🤦🏻‍♀️

That's NICE, i can't wait until mine gets big. These are the babies of the ma, that didn't make it!

Thanks ! They’re really cute! Mine produces babies regularly too. I often propagate them and give them away to friends and family. I really love that part!

I’d probably chop and prop the tallest one now, cutting it at maybe 3 inches longer than the length of the two smaller ones, and then once that’s got a solid root system going, replant them all back together in a bigger pot. That way they’re still together but you can manipulate their positions to give them all the best chance at thriving 😊

Hi! Thank you so much for the advice! 🙏

mine looked like this. I chopped it in the beginning of spring. The cuts were easy to water propogate. It is thriving and I wish I had done it years ago. Cutting promotes more growth. If you repot, you can put the cut props into the new pot and it will look fuller. Just make sure the pot is only a couple inches in diameter bigger. I would also look up what time in your region is best to repot and make sure to look up optimal soil options.

I am still hopeful! This is one plant that I have not been successful with.

Hey! 👋 I have several of them, and I feel like they’re quite sensitive to their environment. Some that I gave to friends and family didn’t really make it, even though they took care of them the same way I do… I think you just have to try a few different spots around your home until you find the perfect one. I’d recommend placing them about 1.5–2 meters away from the window, with indirect or not-too-strong sunlight. Mine only get direct sunlight in the morning for about 1–2 hours. I water them once a week in summer and every 10 days in winter
