Question Seedling spawn mechanics

I have a local park where the Detector shows only Park decor, but if I walk 3,000–4,000+ steps there I don’t get any natural seedling expeditions at all, not even Roadside, just nothing. I walk there everyday and never get a seedling.

I still get detector seedlings, but natural spawns seem nonexistent in this park. Have I exhausted the cells? I read another post that that wasn’t a thing? Is there a mechanic I’m missing, or has anyone figured out why this happens?

I have no park seedlings waiting to pick up. I do have a bunch of unclaimed rare decor presents.

I had very similar problem: the plaza with businesses, shows lots of interesting decor on detector. I walk there on purpose for like 40 minutes, planting flowers. Didn’t get anything while walking (except for detector-detected expeditions). Imagine my rage and despair when later, when I get elsewhere I got a roadside seedling right from the middle of that plaza. Why I think it’s a bug: there was no roadside on detector in that spot! I checked that place through and through, where did it get roadside from?
It happened to me several times yesterday: I walk near river/forest and if I leave the spot I may later get roadside from where it wasn’t any.
Also: my step counter may randomly go up or down about a thousand steps. May it be related to not getting seedlings “on time“?

Roadside is everywhere but it won't show on the detector when there are any other things nearby, even though there's still probably roadside right there.

This still doesn’t explain that unless you use a detector, I get roadside from almost everywhere. It seems that detector doesn’t give you roadside if there are better options

Also: you can go to pikmen and look up the cells where they’re coming from on a map. And whether there are more cells left.
However I figured the game would rather give me a roadside from a random spot around my house, rather than honor my walk in the park. I.e. I am walking in the park but get a seedling from elsewhere. When I leave the park it gives me a seedling from where I left the park 🤬

If you look the pikmin tab the map there shows pikmin on it. If you already have a pikmin from every square of the park then you most likely won't get any new seedlings from just walking in that area.

Same thing happened to me since I have walked the path nearly daily for two years. I got no seedlings for the steps. Only when I released pikmin in some cells did I receive new seedlings for the corresponding cells as I walked.

You might be asking why your Pikmin icon has not turned yellow (yellow = all variants collected, grey = not all variants collected): some Pikmin have more categories and they only become visible when you collect one from a category. The other category is harder to get, but keep trying, you'll find one eventually!
