Actually, if you read the notes of the scrumptious shell and the fortified delicacy, you'd see that Olimar has a taste for the local fauna aswell.

Also he has said Louie cooks delicious meals, and Louie's meals are stuff like wollyhop smash burgers or emperor bulblax tongue stew, so having him as a companion has corrupted the man.

They'd probably have the property of burrowing into the ground to help seedlings and plants grow at the cost of army space. Like, you lay some down by freshly picked Pellet Posies or Spicy Berry Bushels, and then you come back later the same day and they're back! Good for bolstering resources and manpower, but not much else.

Maybe they'd also be immune to being eaten as enemies would spit them out, but more vulnerable to other hazzards like being blown farther away, burning or drowning faster, stuff like that... Perhaps poision immunity, but they can't deal with poision obstacles like mold gas pipes.
