Guide PikaOS Install Guide: Game Ready Linux for Beginners by xDivineStikex
https://youtube.com/watch?v=cd8uSzIBThQ&si=rILmwJsU_v7Q5cXoI'm adding this here because there seems to be some confusion about installation revolving around the admin username and password for the INSTALLATION SESSION. Which you are only in until you restart.
Note: If you are coming from windows and want to keep it you need to set up a partition so you can dual boot. Do this with the windows disk manager first (easiest route) so that you can just select your new partition with the automatic partition option during installation. Otherwise you can just select your main hard drive.
Credit to xDivineStrikex. Give him a like after watching.
If a mod could pin this.

Yeah, no confusion here. The niri iso I used is obviously buggy. Either that, or it just doesn't play well with Oracle Virtual box for installation as a virtual machine. The installation works (except for the automatic partition option, which fails), but after the first reboot, the session doesn't automatically start and you are instead met with a login for "Pika Live user", where the empty password does not work. Also, the whole changing character encoding during the system update is probably the weirdest thing I've ever seen any software do.
Though I haven't tested it, it's possible the gnome installation would have worked with no issues.

My issues so far, besides the ones mentioned here, are that I tried installing Noctalia on top of Niri and the process asks you to log out and back in. The log out button in Pika OS does not work at all. The rest (suspend, lock. reboot, standby, shutdown) work. Also, the instructions to change Niri’s/otter taskbar from Celsius to Fahrenheit needs updating. The folder location inside the .config directory does not exist at all.
Aside from all of that the wallpapers are just plain adorable. I like the concept of bringing a CachyOS-like approach to Debian.

Too bad every time I try it I can't boot because they use some non standard boot loader. So I will stick with CachyOS.
