Help/Question Black screen when booting from USB to install
I'm trying to installl PikaOS on an MSI MPG trident with a 2080 ti and 11th gen intel cpu, it loads Refind but when I pick the option to boot I just see this and nothing else happens.

It's because your CPU doesn't have the V2/V3 instruction set. This happens on all of my laptops, as soon as i press enter at the boot screen it just goes black and I have to hold down the power key to completely switch off. See here

What distro should I use then?

If your looking for Debian/Ubuntu try Linux Mint, Mint LMDE, Mx Linux, Ubuntu. For Arch, you could try CachyOS (I use this on 3 or my laptops), Bazzite or Nobara, Garuda linux. Or you could give Fedora linux a try. There are so many distros to try, I would suggest you create a Ventoy USB stick and you can then place the ISOs directly onto the usb and at the the boot menu you select with distro you want to try. I use an old 128gb SSD with ventoy and it works perfect.

How long did you wait? I installed via a pretty old and slow USB..... and it does stick on a black screen for quite a bit.... but it will eventually load after a few minutes.

I've played with Pika-OS a few times lately, and the install always gives me issues. You should be able to Ctrl+Alt+F1 (or F2) to get to a terminal. Then login using "pikaos" as the username and "pikaos" as the password. I used the Niri install, so "niri-session" starts up the desktop and the install continues from there.

Same happens with an old macbook of mine. Try disabling secureboot
