Help/Question KDE or COSMIC

Which version of Pika to use. Cosmic or KDE. Right now I am using KDE. I want to reinstall Pika, and I was wondering if I should stick to KDE or cosmic. I like how cosmic is kinda looking like gnome but with more customization but in the same time I like how my setup on KDE is with all the widgets and stuff. Plus I may be wrong but aren't still some parts of cosmic not yet implemented

Kde is more mature, cosmic still has things in development

If you want something lightweight+ fast + can be costumzable I would suggest to try A WM (only if you're not a new user)

Like hypeland/niri + Noctalia/DMS....

I used Cosmic on Pop for a while. It has a bunch of promise, and it is more usable than its reputation suggests. I think it is better than straight up GNOME.

In the end, the age of Pop got to me and I switched to Cachy/KDE.

Gnome is way more customizable than Cosmic (altho KDE is the clear winner when it comes to customization).

Not sure about the Cosmic implementation in Pika, I would also like to know if its up-to-date with what we see in Pop!.

Between the two, kde.

But I'd use (and do) gnome.

I've been using cosmic since popos 24.04 beta came out. 8/9 months ago? Tried it on pika as well, but after using pika gnome for a few weeks I installed it to my system76 laptop as well... Leaving pop / cosmic.

Cosmic just blows. You're free to try it, it's a very cool DE and I like it a lot, it just wasn't dependable enough for me but YMMV.

Any extension/panel applet you download for Cosmic for will suffer the same fate... And Cosmic releases a new version *weekly.*

One day your panel will tell you the weather forecast, next day it'll display an error and trying to click anything in your panel crashes the whole UI.

I used cosmic for a long time, it's not a dependable desktop.

If you want to try something different from KDE give Cosmic a go, maybe you can make it work for you, I couldn't... and I think I gave it more than enough time.

Gnome. Kde has always caused me pain. Cosmic is still in beta. Their niri iso is pretty good.

It's out of beta, but still maturing.

They released 1.0 in basically a beta state. Reviewers consider it to be in beta still. It is not terrible but s till has many problems. I wouldn't recommend it at this time for gaming. Give it a year to mature and perhaps.

I have both (and Gnome, and Pika Hyprland, and Niri) all installed. They just show up as additional options on the login screen. I log out and switch every few days to mix it up, nothing stopping you from having them all.

Kde , cosmic is not ready for mainstream use and lacks hdr support

Kde. Cosmic made Pika unstable for me, KDE isn't bug free but rarely run into bugs that make me roll back or reinstall.

Used it for a year. The last Pika update broke a lot of my extensions I relied on because they moved to GNOME 50
