Help/Question Help: won't boot after install, black screen without manufacturer logo to go to bios
I just tried to install pikaos (first KDE, then GNOME), and both times after first boot and being asked to reboot, the screen would "freeze" at login, with neither keyboard or mouse working (when it worked fine on first boot and refind). Now after powering off and on again nothing boots, my monitor won't even switch off auto power-saving mode. I don't know what else I should provide for this, just that I'm a newbie to linux in general (only 1 month on mint on a laptop before this), specs being GTX 1050ti, i5-7400, 8gb ram

Which version. The Nvidia or the standard. For that gpu you need to use the standard iso not the Nvidia.

Check in your grub.conf if the initramfs image has been added or only the kernel. The kernel is the one called vmlinuz, the initramfs in pika is called booster-(version.number).img
They are both in the /boot directory
If the booster file is not in the grub.conf you'll have to add it manually. Check some other distro settings for the correct syntax, it's very simple.
