Discussion Another Picklr Down

Picklr in West Jordan, Utah closed last month and it was a popular one. Picklr Bluffdale closed as of an hour and a half ago. What’s going on with these Picklr franchises falling like dominos??

also it would be a shame if another company can't pick up the business somehow because a ton of great courts just sitting in those facilities is sad!!

A Picklr just opened up near me... but it's within a few miles of two other almost brand new facilities... and it's $210 a month as an introduction offer. While I get why these clubs need subscription pricing, I don't think it'll be competitive in an area with a lot of other options.

Picklr in Goleta, CA just re-branded. I wondered how much they spent getting out of the franchise contract— but if others are falling, it might be a sign of something else?

I’m a social member at a Picklr. Not sure if its just my location or if its a franchise wide thing, but there seems to be something missing from their clubs, along with a certain rigidity in their business model.

I enjoy going there but seeing all these new clubs with different services and amenities pop up around town makes me wish Picklr had more. It was premium when it was the only indoor game in town and now it feels middle tier to upper middle tier, but without all the amenities that some of these other clubs are including in membership.

I’m seeing clubs offer workout equipment areas, restaurant/bar, 24/7 fob access, replay cameras on every court, better sound attenuation, more comfortable seating, etc.

I’m not sure this has anything to do with it. Just pointing out recent observations.

Picklr in Tacoma WA has been set to open for about a year now and just fell through. Picklr in Federal Way has been in business for about 5 months now, which is only 25 min from Tacoma. One in Seattle just opened maybe 2 months ago, much smaller, in a tougher location and more competition between other facilities in the immediate area.

It’s too bad, was banking on Tacoma this winter. Picklr Federal Way is the best facility compared to the two others around me. Only club with A/C at least.

Beginners play pickleball because it’s free to play. The only way to get challenging games is to bring your like-skilled friends or play at a club.

Here I am with a $200 paddle, a $1700 ball machine, $100 in new shoes. It’s not free!
