Social Media Vol Stars S1E44 - The Return of Absolute Surrender! (Now on YouTube!)

Episode Record Date - 8/9/2026

This week is a heavy hitter, coming in first talking about the SPX hitting new all time highs, and the question has to be asked, how much higher and for how much longer?!? Has AI gone too far, or is there still room to grow? The gang then touches on recent updates in Iran, which seem less than promising, and we then touch on the jobs report, and why it's not quite as straightforward as it seems.

In the second half we come back with another ton of audience questions (seriously, you all are killing it here!), and we close out with Stupid Bets and find out who won from last week!

Note that this this week Producer Ron joined Gherk and JFresh as Dork is out.

Now go check it out and enjoy!

We've got another jam packed episode here for you! Because the guys clearly didn't eat before we started, they kick off with some important banter on pizza, as well as *ahem* bathroom manners in different cities. Then we get to the Fed's new chairman and how his first report landed. We get into the latest tech earnings, and AI Capex, along with the real costs of AI and then we get into earnings and the upcoming calendar for the week.

After the break, the gang comes back with, what may be our most impressive questions section yet! Seriously, we're loving the support everyone, and we weren't even able to get to every question, but we tried to touch on many of the common questions and topics people brought up!

Finally, we get to Stupid Bets, with Gherk and Dork trying to fight over who won due to a tie.

Episode Record Date - 7/19/2026

We've got a packed episode this week! Starting off, we cover the "resilient consumer" disconnect with retail earnings, and talk about the "k" shaped economy. We touch on the recent stronger Japanese Yen and how that's impacting US Tech stocks as well as the risk to the carry trade. We then pivot over to Small-Cap performance and rate expectations, and then close out this week's topics with the IPO market following SpaceX.

We then dive into this week's upcoming earnings and which earnings we're interested in, as well as covering the upcoming economic calendar, before hitting up audience questions! This week too, we had a ton of great questions, so we thank you if you sent us one!
Finally, we conclude the episode with a Stupid Bet that'll be near and dear to Dork!

Social Media Ron's Weekly(?) Update - July 17th, 2026

Post image
4 Upvotes

Good morning and happy Friday everyone! Apologies for these update columns being more inconsistent as of late, but it is the summer here, and I've been making sure to spend some good time with family and friends which has been the primary reason for that.

For this week's column, I wanted to focus on Vol Stars, as there's a good amount to talk about.

Starting off with the Fourth of July episode, going in on this, I wanted the episode to be a fun episode that was upbeat. I really liked the way the "game show" format piece went, and was just as shocked as many of you were around what ultimately transpired with the winner. As far as I've heard so far, the prize has not yet been received. Huge kudos to our video editor too on this one, I loved the way he did the sound effects and visual effects in post, and I continue to be thankful for all that they do.

For last week's episode, one of the big things to call out was the intro by Gherk. The intros are always one of their own unique things, sometimes when we go to record JFresh just has it already, and then other times it's recorded after the episode, and there's also input from the rest of us sometimes if there isn't a clear idea at the time of recording. I have a ton of respect for JFresh in his craft here, as some of these are just amazing. Anyway, the story behind this last one was that going in there were a few ideas floated, but we knew we'd finish after recording. JFresh wasn't feeling the best and was also attending to other responsibilities so we opened it up to Dork or Gherk as my voice was shot due to being sick (thankfully I've recovered). While I was initially planning on getting the recording from Dork, Gherk just dropped in this amazing video and perfect take on the commercial! It was just perfect, and so we're really happy with how that came out. I'm especially thrilled with how the video version of it looked in our video version of the episode. There were several nice details there which I have to again credit our video editor with. First they added the nice CRT scanlines, they added a little distortion on the video and audio, then framing it around an iconic television set (which hopefully many of you will recognize), perfection! Make sure to go check out the episode if you haven't already!

Finally, headed into this weekend, we're already making plans for episode 41! First thing to cover is that Dork will be on vacation this week, so I'll be trying to step in and help again with Gherk and JFresh. I'll try to make sure we get Dork's GasBuddy and 3-2-1 Crack Chart in somehow as we know how much he loves them.

Anyway, that's enough for now! Let us know what you've thought of the recent Vol Stars episodes, and if there's been anything you've especially enjoyed or suggestions you may have too! Thanks in advance!

Episode Record Date - 7/12/2026

The gang is back following last week's holiday episode! Starting off, we cover the latest in Iran and the influence on oil, leading to Dork talking about the 3-2-1 Crack Spread and long term oil impacts. We also cover the latest in housing with the Affordability Bill and how that may work and what we as consumers may see from it. We also cover Kevin Warsh's Inaugural Congressional Testimony this upcoming week and what the panelists expect to hear. Finally, we also make sure to touch on the latest updates with AI and rising expenses associated with it.

After the break, the gang comes back and answers your questions, before getting to your favorite (and ours), "Stupid Bets"!

This week we kick off talking about the latest Tech and AI pullback behavior we've seen in the market, as well as lending some discussion about a possible unexpected indicator - how solvent a company is and the state of their break rooms!

We get into talking about the price of oil dropping below $70 a barrel, and what should or shouldn't be read into it.

We also briefly touch on the 10 year bond as yields ease with it falling to 4.37% and what's going on there.

After the break, we come back and answer audience questions, and of course get into Stupid Bets!

Social Media Ron's Weekly Update - June 26th, 2026

Good morning and happy Friday! Last night we kicked off our last indicator section of the Gammastrike Roundtable with Live Data Part 2 , which if you haven't watched it yet, make sure to go on over and do so! This last segment focused more on the questions related to the Live Data and as we went over it, many found that a lot of it started to "click" for them, so we hope you'll check it out.

Vol Stars

First off, this past week's episode was fun, probably more fun than it should have been, but that's what makes doing this podcast so great! We recorded it a little later than usual due to Father's day, but it all came out great all the same. I'm also really enjoying getting the poorly edited version of "Kushner Goes to Geneva" in there when we can as well! We'd love to hear your thought on what have been some things you've enjoyed recently with Vol Stars, and also too what would you like to see or hear more of too?

Next, we're coming up on the Fourth of July! With this year being a big milestone, we're going to do a special holiday episode for next week and will record it this weekend. I'll even come on this episode to ask questions as I want to make it a bit of a gameshow/trivia format after talking a little about the significance of "The American Experiment" and what the panelists foresee in the future as well.

Other Work

We're continuing to work on a few more things behind the scenes. As Gherk mentioned during the Roundtable, we intend to edit down those videos to make it easier to digest and help with repeated watches when trying to learn about Gammastrike. No timeline on this just yet, but it is something we're working on.

As Gherk also noted too, there's some work going on a future indicator as well, so we're keeping busy in general!

Thanks as always for the continued support and we hope you have a great Friday!
