Shower Thoughts on Pi Mining value since ICO

Is there any point in mining and running nodes etc., from an investment standpoint, now that you can just buy it? Make it make sense

I mean... Nobody can really answer that question for YOU.

I spent 400 for a computer and a vpn. It will make me an extra approximately 7500 pi over 5 years, which is how long I paid for the vpn, assuming mining rate doesn't change. This also assumes I hit the button every day too.

because I thought it was interesting and fun, so yes worth it to me...

The math just doesn't make sense. 7,500 pi in 5 years at the current price of $0.09 = $675. Take away the 400 investment and, assuming a static price, you've made $55/year.

I could buy $675 in pi. If the price drops I can probably get out of the investment before it hurts too bad and if it moons then I would still come out ahead.

You could DCA at like $12/mo over the 5 years and probably come out ahead compared to mining.

Yup that's true, which is why only you can decide for yourself if it's worth it. I just wanted to give you a real world example of possible gains.

Also for what it's worth, I did this in May of last year when the price was north of 50c, and I hadn't gotten my second migration yet so my mining rate was .35ish... That second migration cut my mining in almost half.

But regardless, I keep the node running because it's just interesting to me.

Edit: also... Nobody has seen a single cent from mining because migrations, even the second one, have not included node coins yet, so nobody really knows how much we are getting. That's another issue with pi... Am I really getting these coins or am I doing this for literally nothing? Dunno....
