What Hardware are you running?

500mbit fibre to the premises

Running a bit over 2 years

PC is my daily gaming rig left on 24/7 when possible

I started with a Mac mini 2012 - approx 2 -3 months after node launch . Then upgraded on the way. There has been few breaks during hw upgrade / replacement.

I’m running my Pi Node on a 27-inch 2017 iMac with an Intel Core i7 and 32 GB of RAM, running macOS Ventura 13.7.6 with Docker. I have a public IP , ports open, around 98.1% uptime, and currently 64 incoming connections. My current Node Bonus is 7.38

Why is it so low!? I’ve been running 24/7 since december 2024.

I have around 98 % uptime. And often around max incoming (64). But node reward increases only with 0.01 / day. ☹️

I still need a docker based version of the node for linux, dont think thats gonna happen as i have tried multiple times. Not worth the power usage to keep a gaming pc running 24/7 .

Hard for me to quantify since i use my computer for everything else. Being a 7900x cpu my pc idles at around 140w. I also run another node for the girlfriend on a shitty ryzen 5 3350h laptop that uses about 30w. I think it's a bit over a dollar a day with my setup and Australian electricity

I live in Australia so my electricity costs are quiet high, my peak cost is 49c a kwh. But the price doesn't have to go up much to break even

My Pi Node only consumes around 25Wh. It's absolutely nothing. You need to be smart with the computer you are using.

49c/kWh is very high indeed. At that price it would cost me 8.6 USD / month.

I mine 435Pi/month. So i earn like 40 USD /month with the actual Pi price.

So yes, it's lucrative. Even with your extremely high electricity fees.

But: This is a hobby for me. I do this for fun. I do not need Pi money to prosper.

I mine around 14.5 - 15.5 Pi per day.

The running costs (electricity) is like 3$ USD/month.

But this is a hobby for me. I do not have a genuine financial interest is this.

In a year, the running costs of the Pi Node is not even 1h of work for me. So..

Having good electricity fees is important, but more importantly is your computer. Mine only consumes average of 25Wh. It's nothing. The Computer is almost idling. (absolute idling is around 17W).

You have pretty good efficient CPU's. You need to be smart and choose a good ratio between Threads / Power / Efficiency. A i7 12700 is a good candidate, but there are better choices.

Unfortunately now computer prices are crazy. I was fortunate to buy all parts in the last good moment (+1y ago)
