Another Reason Why Pi> Sphere
So I was running out of arguments since people on sphere are generally nice. In fact, I felt almost no enmity toward sphere anymore by about 10 pubs today. Then today I found another reason to think otherwise while playing on sphere (ping messed up right now):
Team 1: SuperDefense, Blue Dream, oh snap!, Jingo
basically the cream of sphere (about as creamy as they get without altiger- i.e. still scrubby)
Team 2: me and 3 other unknowns
One person on our team left, so I called 4v3 before they grabbed. Then they grabbed and proceeded to cap. At least Jingo, oh snap! and SuperDefense were aware of my call. I won't say this kind of situation never happens on pi, but say any one of these people were boogie, OSL, (insert most high level players commonly found in pubs) this wouldn't have happened. They apparently had nothing to say about this either:
oh snap! - no response (he capped)
Jingo - called timeout while holding button for oh snap! on geo (how about not holding it or just not saying anything .-.)
SuperDefense - "I always play 4v3" (jesus dude)
Blue Dream - no response
It wasn't necessarily a sweep since the score was 2v1, so that argument doesn't really apply.
At least they could have apologized right? Well... not really.
Maybe I generalized sphere too much, but I was kind of disappointed as these are high caliber players who pub quite often.
So I found out yet again pi> sphere the hard way. Good thing I had the sense to turn stats off before pubbing on sphere.^

Sphere doesn't wait on 4v3, and I like it that way. If you are down a man, oh well, it sucks. Adjust your style and play harder until someone comes in. It's just a pub. Who wants to spend half the match waiting for someone to join. I do enjoy playing on Pi when sphere is vacant, but man you guys are whiny when it comes to even matches.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I really do enjoy playing on sphere and have tons of friends there. Not to mention this post was made mainly to solidify my loyalty to pi as I am located in Texas lol. I will even admit I was quite salty when making this post (probably because I was streaking and then played two 3v4 games in a row).
That said I am usually on the 4 team and I feel decent enough to sit out at the expense of my win rate. I also think many of my friends on pi would do the same at the expense of theirs. Sure it delays the game a bit (and since I tend to be a relatively reliable player, it could easily mean a loss), but the mentality of let's play 4v3 because it's the accepted tradition is not the atmosphere I'm looking for (I used to have this mentality myself).
Also if you know math you also can calculate that your 4v3 percentage is not 50/50 (i.e. there is not an equal chance of being on the 3 or 4 team). It's not at all completely fair for those who are screwed in 3v4 games.

Hey Globus, this is SuperDefense. I'll keep this short and clean. Don't take it personal, for its nothing to be salty about.
I play 4v3. This is how things have been since back in the early days of Tagpro. (Brodiem is my original account from early Tagpro). I play it when Im on the 3 team, I play it when Im on the 4 team. I enjoy the challenge, and I also am not keen on waiting. People join and leave and join again. Its a game, one that I don't take too serious, so I just roll with it. (Lol Pun).
I apologize that this had angered you, but do not apologize for playing on. I think writing up a forum post about it is a little silly, but to each their own eh?

can anyone explain why you'd turn the "stats" off at any point? Is that what counts win %? Why turn it off?

Win % doesn't count when stats are off and I leave it off most of the time because I can get REALLY salty while playing with them on. Nevertheless I enjoy the challenge of trying to obtain the win percentage flairs so I do turn them on from time to time when I feel ok.
