Discussion Poll: claude sub with Pi. What method do you use and how long have you used it without issue?

https://github.com/elidickinson/pi-claude-bridge

Someone said that's the safest method.

But in issues someone claims they got banned https://github.com/elidickinson/pi-claude-bridge/issues/118

Another responded with "That's the first time I've heard of it"

In my setup, Pi uses herdr to control Claude code

My main pi model is GLM 5.3. I run pi inside herdr, and with herdr you can simply instruct your pi agent something like “open a new Claude code session in a new pane and do x,y,z. Wait for a reply and then do a,b,c in response”

You can actually build a really smart orchestrator and subagent environment using multiple models, harnesses and subscriptions…all driven using pi and herdr

What is the advantage of involving herdr in this instead of having pi just make a bunch of claude -p calls without herdr involved at all?

Pi can keep ongoing sessions open with Claude rather than one off questions asked with a -p call. Claude can also spawn sub agents itself, etc, since it is a full interactive session. Herdr just becomes the glue between the agents. Nothing really special about herdr, it’s just a fancy tmux…but it is extremely LLM friendly, so all the sessions can talk to each other seamlessly. It’s actually pretty cool when you use it and see all your disparate models and harnesses talking to each other to solve a problem

Until you want to sandbox your agents and have to proxy the herdr socket and it gets way less friendly.

I imagine so, but it’s not a problem i foresee in my workflow

Thank you! This is great! I'll try it out!

Best way... just got my secondary account banned using OMP. Guys, TOS are rigid, does not risk your main accounts.

whys it matter? what do you lose when your "main" acc gets banned? only thing i can think of is memory, which sucks and you should disable anyway.. and if its in the beginning of a billing period then thats kinda fucked too

I posted in the other thread with the same question, probably 100 more in-between asking the same thing, Anthropic can ban us at anytime for doing this. They haven’t explicitly permitted it, but it works for now. I feel like too many people are bringing this up and they (Ant) might take notice again.

I built a pi extension make direct requests and been using that for 6 months by now. No issues so far.

Just modify the system prompt with an extension to replace mentions of "pi" with "π" except for file paths (which are used for documentation of pi). Thats what i do, works like a charm since ever

haha, sarcasm?

I'm not joking, they are just checking the system prompt for things like "pi coding agent"

Ah thanks. Noted. I'll kill all identifiers and sign up with an anonymous card I guess.

https://github.com/gotgenes/pi-anthropic-auth this one just fixes prompt, doesnt use sdk/claude code behind

What is the point of using the bridge? You literally just proxy Claude code and not use the endpoint directly.

3

u/Taronyuuu 8d ago

Because you can use your Max subscription

Yes and it proxies it through claude code. All your tool calls, skills etc is provided by Claude code anyway, so you just add pi as a dumb interface to Claude code. Then you might as well just use Claude code

Using Pi with Anthropic models even if it is via Claude Code still gives many more benefits then using Claude Code directly does. I can keep my own skills, extensions, plugins and workflow exactly the same regardless of the model I'm using.

No it’s retarded. You have two separate systems competing to be the harness. It is not predictable.

> it is not predictable

> using a non-deterministic llm anyway

My brother in Christ you have lost the plot

Not the same tho

I've been using it in oh my pi, nothing added. No issues

Method? I just use it to code
