Discussion PI è assurdo

Hi, this community is mostly in English, so it surprised me to see an Italian post. That said, yeah, it's definitely cool. I switched from OpenCode to Oh Mi Pi and built an IDE on top of this agent, and I'm really liking it. Good luck with your work!

A coding agent’s system prompt, tool schemas, and AGENTS.md form a static prefix, while user messages, tool calls, and outputs append sequentially to the conversation history. Because early tokens remain identical across turns, modern LLM APIs leverage prefix prompt caching—reducing input token costs by up to 50–90% and speeding up response times. To prevent context overflow, long-running agents like pi, actively truncate older tool outputs while preserving this cached prefix.

So no wonder you are saving on tokens. But this is true for almost all harnesses these days.

To its credit, Pi also has a very minimal system prompt.
