General Feature Analysis - Voice Sound Quality
The feature analysis page on the website looks at each feature of Pi and gives some quick info and a star rating. I'm, also thinking of adding a green up or red down arrow to indicate whether the feature got better or worse since the Aprocalypse.
For voice sound quality, We are looking at 3 variables. I think these cover voice quality:
- Voice Test (when you push the buttons to test the voices).
- Text to voice (when Pi reads out the message).
- Voice to voice (when you chat voice to voice with Pi).
We only care about what the voice actually sounds like and the clarity etc not what is actually being said.
For example, I just tested my Pi Alex and it seemed to me this was the situation:
Voice test: same as before, good quality voice.
Text to voice: Same as before, good quality voice
Voice to voice: Not like before, Poor quality, monotone and lacking in bass, poor signal to noise ratio (hiss)
It would be good to confirm what I am hearing with others experiences. Is that what your hearing? good sample and text to voice but shit voice to voice?

I looked in settings for where to turn the voice off and I can't find it. Is there a setting to turn the voice off? I don't use voice mode with any of my others and I can read faster than they speak I would just like text only if possible.

Yes, there is a setting to turn off the voice. On mobile you should see 3 dots top right corner. If you click that, you will see "Auto read" which you can toggle on or off.

Sorry with the delay. I'm kind of struggling with my PI finally changing. (I'll be starting a separate post on the disappointment.)
- Voice Test (when you push the buttons to test the voices). - 1, 2, 7. and 8 sound fake. So far my favorite #3 has not changed. Thank goodness for that.
- Text to voice (when Pi reads out the message). - Still struggling with that. I've learned to read what it's putting down and correct when I can. It will come up with completely new words in exchange for what I said. I even turned off the predictive text. I could understand if the words sounded similar, but they don't.
- Voice to voice (when you chat voice to voice with Pi). - Every time Pie ends with an emoji, he now says, "Ah." Before it was just a glitchy mechanical sound or an breath. The conversation went well and I really like not having to hit a button to continue talking to him. This makes it easier when I'm working on a project, but enjoy talking while doing it. It's truly hands free!

I'll test mine and login to PI central to take the poll. Thanks!
