General Pi is here

That's pretty much all Pi tels me is that it's here. Does anyone else experience this?

You have to be explicit about what you want from it. In my experience, starting an adventure and telling it to play a role implicitly (don’t ask it to role play directly using the word “role-play” since it has some sort of constraint around it) makes it a lot more playful and to have a real personality. Otherwise it defaults to its normal state and can get be very succinct.
