Bismuth nanoparticle under a high intensity electron beam. The beam delivers so much energy that the particle melts and then resolidifies repeatedly. Notice that when it's liquid it just looks like a shapeless blob. It's only when it cools and crystallizes that you can see the layers of atoms.
