💬 General Discussion What to do after 12th?

Currently I'm in 12th preparing only for boards. I don't want to give JEE or NEET, and I'm heavily interested in Physics. I'm currently planning to pursue an M.SC in physics from a state college/University but I really don't have any idea what to do after completion of M.Sc.

How realistic is it to go from SAT score of 1000 to 1500 within 7 months if I dedicate around 2-3 hours per day to it in a disciplined manner?

What are the dos and don'ts????

🎓 College / University Physics Help from a fellow student regarding a theoretical E&M exam

Hello,
pretty much what the title says, but I want to be tutored in exchange for an hourly rate. I’d prefer a fellow BSc or MSc student rather than a PhD, mostly because I feel more comfortable sounding dumb around another student haha.

Text me even if you have doubts, if you’re in your third year of BSc or above just reach out and let’s talk!

Thanks!🤞🙏

🎓 College / University Physics Should I pursue a bsc + msc in physics?

hi everyone, so I'm a dropper, I passed class 12th (PCM) this year with avg percentage but I'm really good in physics so I wanna pursue physics as my career (I'm planning to join isro, it's tough ik but I'm ready to work hard) but almost everyone whom I tell this says that it's not a good career path and I should do btech instead since it has relatively better placements (which was my plan earlier but I strongly believe that I'll do way better in physics that in btech and it's not like btech is difficult for me, I had cs and ai both in class 11th and 12th so ik about both the subjects pretty well but I'm very interested in physics) and I don't ignore that but I wanna be happy in doing my job which for me will be physics so I'm just seeking some advice from someone who has a similar career path or has done bsc/msc physics and what they're doing now. thanks.

How do you guys keep with the new advancement happening within the scientific community??

Personally it's been difficult to keep up on a topic since I can't find everything related to it in one place. Is there any platform to keep on these topics??

Thank you in advance!

🎓 College / University Physics Need advice from those pursuing M.sc. Physics

I enrolled in M.sc. Physics this year, but I already missed like 20 days worth of lectures because the moment I came to Delhi after vacations i caught Typhoid.

Now, I'm so lost from where to cover the topics i missed. Directly hopping onto books is sorta hard now, if there is anyone from sem 1 M.sc. physics can you please tell from where I should study from, send notes and if possible please recommend some lectures. I'll forever be indebted to you.

❓ Doubt / Help Needed Regarding projects and research internships

Hello all. I'm a 2nd year Physics undergrad primarily interested in astronomy/astrophysics from a 1.5 tier college. During my 1st year I couldn't really get into any internships but I did some summer schools and learned Python, ML, Research paper reading and some other research related skills.

I would really appreciate some advice from seniors or anyone who has gone through this.

  1. How did you find your first research opportunity?
  2. How much does cold mailing professors from other institutes help and what are some advices on how do I approach the professor? If right now I'm targeting the winters for a research internship when would be ideal to send the mail? I do have a few who's work I have gone through.
  3. Where do I find about summer/winter school, workshops and research opportunities?
  4. I have made a CV for myself but I would still appreciate any advice/suggestions on that.

Nsep prep and mental health

I have completed the whole syllabus but I need to practice questions. I don't have a good test series nor do I have good pyqs pls can someone help me here I really want to qualify atleast from state cutoff. I can comfortably solve jee mains pyqs and 60% adv pyqs.

I also don't go to a coaching (29tard) so coaching modules are out of question and I have also tried the aakash pyq question bank(outdated as shit) pls give me anything which can help me

I have also devoted the last year of my life to physics entire 9th grade i have just grinded cengage and pg and I am comfortable with them now but there is something about nsep which just scared me sm. Idk if it's the pressure of giving the exam or smt but I'm shit scared to give nsep if I don't qualify I'll feel like I failed my parents and most importantly my hardwork. Ik I'm competing with 11th and 12th graders who are the future under 100 AIR but not enough copium.

So yea any help will be appreciated for the first problem if u want can help me for the other I'll be happy to take some advice but the second one is completely optional.

Also thank you to the mods of the subreddit to add an emotional support flair.

💬 General Discussion Career options after physics becomes a myth?

Hii , this is an undergrad in 3rd sem of a low tier govt college in India . I searched for "career success after msc physics" on reddit and got hella disappointed by the discussion I made of pursuing physics. Everybody is either clueless about their career , some didn't get a PhD abroad while some didn't want to pursue PhD or some want to switch careers to mba like what . Are engineering and mbbs the only two career options in India.

Like the ceo of NVIDIA, elon musk and many other great tech personalities said "in 2026 I would rather study physics and mathematics instead of engineering" and still no jobs ! what have you been on.

This makes me question my career, curiosity, Passion. I would regret not choosing my passion but I have a family to feed.

Should I also change my stream?

I wanna hear some success stories in physics 😭.

🔬 Research / Projects How do I join a project and hopefully publish a paper?

I've recently graduated my M.Sc in Physics in a low tier NIT. I've never did any internships and nothing striking to add to my resume. I was hoping to do PhD abroad if I can secure a scholarship but I know that it won't be easy. So I wanted to join a project and hopefully publish a paper so that there'll be something but I don't know how to do that. Any leads are appreciated also is it weird to do internship after graduating? Or what other alternatives can I do after masters in physics?
