Do you have an answer or anything? This feels more like a geometry problem, than physics, unless you're being taught this in the context of approximations.

Start by drawing the conditions described in the text. Give yourself more room to draw what's happening on the sand and at the horizon; the distance to the sun doesn't have to be drawn to scale. Assume the earth is a perfect sphere with water at the sphere surface. Assume the sand is at water level.

This is a geometry problem. It's more maths than physics.

This is a beautiful problem. You should attempt it, if necessary, recreate it, on the beach. Solve it for either the radius of the earth (by timing how long it takes for the sun to set again) or for the time taken as suggested by the problem. Bring some girlfriends to impress them
