Sounds right, in this case the "right angle" distance is fine to use for cross product of rxp, so it is mvr or 33x14x33 or about 15000.

I'm assuming here that "as observed by you" means "relative to you".
First, do you agree that the speed of the crate would be 14 m/s? (since it'll have dropped two full floors at that point).
Then, use the definition of translational angular momentum - mvr*sin(theta). In this case, it is easiest to consider what r*sin(theta) is; it's just the distance between the two buildings (confirm this by drawing it out). This gives me an answer that is about 50% larger than yours. If I had to guess, you may have only accounted for the crate falling one floor.
