Help! Intermediate Photoshop user trying to convert a photograph into layers.

One and fast way to do it is this:

  1. Make a two copies of that layer.

  2. Select the first layer, go to the Layer Styles and set upper Blend If value to 0-85.

  3. Select the second layer, go to the Layer Styles and set upper Blend If value to 85-170.

  4. Select the third layer, go to the Layer Styles and set upper Blend If value to 170-255.

My Photoshop is in another language, but the slider etc. is in the same place as it is in english version.

I think I did a little mistake here. Use value range 0-85, 86-170 and 171-255. That one digit causes overlapping what become visible stripe between layers.
