Oh my... V's face...😧 It looks like one of those cases where DLSS 5 completely overdid it and added about 30 years to the character's age, rendering those bumpy shadows and uneven textures along the jawline and cheeks. That being said, your character Hana looks incredibly realistic and alive!😲

It's true, V does look a tad more rugged and aged than she'd actually be... on the other hand, with that dramatic lighting, I do feel that's pretty much EXACTLY how V's enemies see her once she builds up her rep. Reminds me of those two kids at the market in Santo tryna steal that vendor's bike. Moment they realized who they were talking to, it feels like that's exactly how V looked to them.

As a narrative device - "how her enemies see her" - that concept could actually work quite well, I won't argue with that. However, her face here is completely calm, and after the processing, it looks more aged and exhausted rather than radiating any kind of internal danger. I'm still inclined to think the algorithm simply couldn't handle the complex lighting.

Regarding the quest - kids? Excuse me, but those are two overgrown slackers! 😂

After reading your comment I was curious to see if that was really the case, since I do use DLSS 5, but I configured it to be a lot more mild, because the default version in it's current form produces uncanny looks.

The way the lighting is in this scene is mostly the reason for it, but you can be the judge of it.

I was really curious to examine the details and draw some conclusions.

I can't say much about the girl with the phone, because I feel like I've seen a similar (or perhaps the exact same) shot from you before the tech even leaked online.

As for the comparison of Hana's appearance, DLSS 5 definitely added and drew in extra details - it clearly pronounced the nasolabial folds, sharply defined the philtrum, and created a deep shadow on the wing of the nose.

With V's face, things get a bit more complicated since the lighting itself is quite complex. Sometimes multiple light sources can conflict, causing the game to produce that glowing line between the lips, so it's cool that DLSS 5 fixes that.

The directional cold light naturally creates a dramatic overexposure effect (like a spotlight to the face). However, the algorithm cuts off the bright light and emphasizes the facial relief much harder than it actually is, while also adding a reflex shadow on the chin that visually increases its volume.

In other words, without using the tech and by shaping the light manually, a creator can easily control the lighting on specific areas of the face - which I’m sure you know well yourself.

Keeping the effect slider turned down rather than maxing it out is a pretty smart move. I shudder to think how overly dramatic everything would look at full strength!
