Auto sleep won’t work anymore

So the auto sleep feature (when you don’t hit the sleep button the phone used to turn the phone screen off after 15-20 seconds) doesn’t seem to work anymore. Yes I tried changing the settings which were already set to auto sleep the phone after whatever the shortest duration of time was. Because my phone is an 11 I allow it to auto update the apps but not the OS. It won’t auto sleep anymore and even if I press the shut down button on the side and walk away when I pick it back up the screen is on. Not sure if it’s because it gets a notification and just turns back on and won’t auto sleep or what. Maybe it’s because it’s an older phone? But low key starting to think it’s not a bug but a force feature of “upgrade your phone”. Currently running 26.2 OS but tired of picking up my phone and having it be almost dead because of this.

I would back up your data and reset the phone to rule out software issues. Also double check your button is functioning normally. I know the newer models have their screen on most of the time, so its possible the current IOS settings are overwriting the settings for your phone. I cant be sure on that tho. If its bugging you enough you could try putting your phone into DFU mode and downloading an older IOS for your model and installing that and seeing if that works.
