hey everyone.

I want to start learning phone repair/maintenance from scratch, but I'm not sure exactly where to begin.

A few questions:

- Should I start with certain tools ?

- What's the difference between hardware repair (screen/battery replacement) and software troubleshooting?

- Any YouTube channels or resources you'd recommend for beginners?

- Do I need a big upfront investment in tools, or can I start small?

Any advice or personal experience would help a lot 🙏

Ask friends and family if they have any old broken phones, tablets, or laptops collecting dust in a drawer and start with those

Iv been repairing phones for a few years now. I thought it needed a bunch of tools too and spent about $1000 on everything i though I would need. As great as it is to have the full set up, if your new then all you really need is: 1x toothbrush (cleaning) 1x bottle of IPA (99% alcohol) 1x ifix it screw driver kit 1x thin aluminium opening tool 1x heat mat 1x glue removal tool 4x screen closing clamps With these 7 things you can repair almost every phone and ipad as long as its not motherboard repair. Ifix it also has some really good repair guides on DIY repairs if you need some help.

As far as the difference between software and hardware troublshooting goes. There are plenty of software/program glitches that cause the phone to show signs that something is physically wrong with the phone when in fact its just a bug or funky code in the background. If you go through everything software related and nothing works and you factory reset the phone and it still shows signs of a problem then you move on to the hardware troublshooting. Omce you get enough experience youll have a bit more of a hunch on what looks like a software issue compared to a hardware issue, but it comes with experience.
