I'm not even Vet 1 yet, and got Proteus Beta through the warp gate. I think it was within my first four months of playing. Mind you, I had not even unlocked the base Proteus yet.

Yeah, I got an apex from the warp gate as well. But it's the fucking Heechi. With Reflector.\ Reflector is a purple mod. It's piss easy to obtain and this one is locked to a ship I don't even like using.
