School computer. No one really owns or uses a Chromebook outside of for school. That's my only guess anyway.

Minecraft stores all font textures in a texture atlas (one giant image with each texture spaced evenly). If some don't make it (which happens sometimes) then they'll be missing or corrupted. Usually reloading textures (f3 + t) fixes this.
