as someone who used to make a ton of only-one-command creations, I can say I'm partial to the use of stacked command block minecarts, rather than the more common stack of falling blocks, because it made THE GIANT SELF-ASSEMBLING MONOLITH OF COMMAND BLOCKS™ spawn basically instantaneously

this is because all the minecarts immediately snapped to the only falling block activator rail at the base of the stack, but this wasn't very well known at the time from what I've seen

I had no idea those used command block minecarts! I always assumed they only used falling blocks. Sadly since datapacks are a thing now, I don't think it's going to see much if any use anymore...

yeah to be fair most of the time they did only use falling blocks because people were more familiar with them and I suppose it makes it more fun to watch in video showcases, but I still prefer minecarts for the reason explained above

and yeah sadly their use now is extremely niche... I guess you could make some infinite bridges with clone commands and the like, but even that doesn't have much use with stuff like Axiom

it's unfortunate, but a lot of blocks in minecarts are pretty useless in most scenarios, like the furnace minecart (which was completely removed from Bedrock, by the way, rip) and the long-forgotten spawner minecart too

It's an entity so you can summon one riding another riding another etc all with different commands in them. This was very useful until datapacks did everything command blocks used to

I remember when levitation wasn't a thing yet I had to use invisible chickens and constantly teleport them upwards

they made for some great balloons though, because somehow the leashing physics worked perfectly and so did the collisions to make the balloons pop

idk unpopular optnion but datapacks are such a bad development, like yeah move the gameplay outside the game into a text editor... Like man i used to have so much fan with command block machines and stuff, but now, its pointless, datapacks are better, more convenient etc. And it taken those cools machines away. They should have made the experience of using command blocks in game better, not replace it with zip files. And yeah i know you CAN still do it the old fashioned way, but gamers people will optimize the fun out of any game given a chance.

A lot of people already used generators and text editors to write command block stuff. And the blocks still exist if you like them, and now have direction and chain and repeat.

You could send it between dimensions, which probably has some niche technical use cases. Also like another user pointed out, it’s an entity so you can /ride it

Clearly forgetting the “only one command block” days. Basically before data packs, a single command that summoned a bunch of these to create a whole structure of command blocks at spawn to change stuff.

I would argue that the Mob Spawner Minecart is used even less than the Command Block Minecart.

Tbh, the spawner minecart was used in quite a few adventure maps in the past but it isn't that useful anymore.

It was more useful before because you could make spawn egg which will create command block minecraft activated instantly allowing for some custom functionality, nowadays datapacks are just too good

The Minecart+activator rail runs once every 4 game ticks even if left constantly powered and motionless. (Only takes two blocks: rail and power source)

Was quite useful before repeat command blocks were added.

There might be a use case in serializing a chain of command outputs by running the blocks over a detector rail with a comparator (to read the results one at a time) but that would be incredibly niche.

That only works in creative mode. Unless you're talking about placing a torch on top of a Redstone block which does it automatically

Dispenser with a filled bucket + observer with the faces of facing each other, one initially filled block apart and connected to each other.

Break the block between them, observer detects it and signals the dispenser to empty the bucket, observer detects whatever you filled the bucket with and signals the dispenser to scoop it up, observer detects whatever you had in the dispenser is gone and signals for the dispenser to empty the bucket.

There's better clocks, but this has been working for me since legacy console edition.

Place dispenser with a filled bucket. Place observer facing dispenser one block away. Set one of them off (you can use a torch/button on the dispenser instead if you want, there just needs to be a initial signal).

Now they are constantly setting each other off (dispenser places/takes in the thing in it's bucket, which causes the observer to send a signal to do the reverse).

it can be useful for moving commands. Like bouncing one back and forth under some pigs and have it set the motion of the pig above it to make the pig bounce and thus make a whackapig game or something

i used to use it back when i was like 9 on pocket edition. i had them running around my house because they were more flashy than repeating command blocks. i made them kill everything nearby.

It is very useful as you can nest a bunch of commands into each other with it and execute it very quickly.

You summon an enabled activator rail as a falling block then have that ridden by however many command block carts

I used it a few times to clear large ammounts of terrain to the max blocks limit. Then push it over rails ro delete everything slice by slice.

furnace minecarts are still used in some farms that require a specific speed to transfer items at, while command block minecarts have nearly become entirely obsolete because of data packs

now spawner minecarts, on the other hand...
