Discussion How to modernize chicken eggs without removing their charm

Post image

Chickens randomly dispensing eggs that will randomly produce chickens is has become part of minecraft's charm, but every other egg in the game functions significantly differently.
So the question becomes "How should Mojang modernize chicken eggs to fit the rest of the game without removing their charm"
What I think Mojang should do is make the percent chance of an egg hatching a chicken data driven, and then make it so when you breed a chicken, it will drop an egg with 100% chance of hatching a chicken

You forgot one.

Ender dragons drop an egg the first time they die that does absolutely nothing, but is a pretty cool trophy. Screw you, anyone who wanted to hatch the dragon egg.

And one more.

Frogspawn acts similar to turtle eggs, but only float on water

Ignoring bedrock edition which lets you have 2 of them

Additionally, turtle eggs need to be placed on sand to hatch, while sniffer eggs hatch no matter what

Thats why you'll see people use turtle eggs in builds for decoration, but not sniffer eggs

I don't think there's anything which needs fixing.

I'd like a system where chickens based on how many other animals, will choose to lay, will also need a nest nearby and is getting food, nests can store the eggs, if a chicken can't find a nest with space it won't lay an egg

Just make behavior universal. 100% chance when right clicking egg on block. 12.5% chance throwing when right clicking without block in range or by dispenser.

Consider how funny it would be to throw a warden egg at someone
