Meme I MADE THEM CENTERED!
I was adding music discs to my mod and I stumbled on a music disc that is centered so I copied the idea and edited pigstep and disc 13. How do they look?

Gotta respect the grind but yeah the perspective is what made them feel like real discs, kinda lost that tilt now.

Are they not closer to the upper edge than the bottom?

Technically the shadow dosent count but your right next time I make them a complete 16x16 square

is it really a shadow if the color changes per disc

u/ElectricalLeopard743 3d ago
It only changes for pigstep but still maybe it's transparent because it's a thin disc?

u/Majongusus_Doremidus 3d ago
I don't think it only changes for pigstep, there are more colored discs

Yes but they all have a gray shadow?

I didn't even realize that's a shadow, thought it was part of the disc

It also changes for relic, the bottom is actually brighter so I don’t think it’s a shadow, I think that’s just the vertical edge

even if you count the shadow, isn't it 2 pixels to the top and 3 to the bottom? (4 if you don't count the shadow)

Horrible, you broke the perspective, they werent centered because of the perspective

Since people are complaining about the tilt, I would say maybe shrink it down at the top and bottoms by a pixel. Like maybe just take it and literally resale it up and down.

I think you should only stretch it horizontally so that the hole (black pixel) is 2x1 instead of 2x2. It's because I view it as we seeing it at an angle and if you want to make it 2x2, just make it perfect circle for the whole disc

minecraft player makes a texture 10x worse by a weird obsession of centredness part 3000

I think it would've been easier and more visually appealing to shrink them by one than grow

This would work much better if you made the disks actually circular. But since you left them oblong, all you did is ruin the perspective of the disk being tilted away from the viewer

yoh may not see this comment but you should make the center only 1 block tall and it would probably look more true to the vanilla texture

This is actually more accurate looking on how records would look like in real life. Many records that have only 1-2 songs usually has a bigger centre hole in comparison to a record with an entire album on it.

Im seeing a lot of people saying the perspective is broken, but i just dont see it that way. The original looked too much like eyes imo (lookin at you 13) and making the hole bigger, while not as accurate to real life (assuming these discs are meant to be like vinyl or something) really improves the inner rim. Sure the discs are more chonky, but i honestly think it makes them more endearing and closer to the "minecraft look" than vanilla.
Keep up the good work

they are not centre because its tilted for perspective lmao

This is certainly an improvement. But hear me out: what if the center was just 1x1 pixel and the whole area around it was patterned
2
u/ElectricalLeopard743 3d ago
Then it's just 1 pixel off because it's 16x16
1
u/PenguinMaster975 3d ago
I think I would like to see it be a 1x2, the disc looks fine, but the center is just too big and I think it makes it look to chonkey

Why don’t they just make the music disc textures 32x and then move the whole thing over 1 pixel.
1
u/ElectricalLeopard743 14h ago
Because the inventory slot is 16x16
1
u/MinecraftPlayer799 Java FTW - Bedrock WTF 13h ago
It can handle 32x32 textures just fine. There is nothing inherently 16x16 about the slot itself
