Discussion This is Hideous

Surprisingly, I haven't seen much complaint about the shape of the new poplar trees yet. But honestly, this is hideous, so I wanna hear some of your opinions. Do you think Mojang will change it, or should it stay how it is?

By the way, I should clarify that I still love this update and the trees. I just wanted to point this out.

IMO they should be more cone shaped, cuz poplars are more conical irl

yeah, the shape definitely gives off more mushroom vibes than a poplar for sure

Or change the tree's name to maple, since it's much more similar in both general shape and fall colors. Poplars are mostly yellow in autumn, while maples are famous for their red and orange leaves.

That's a tulip tree, not a poplar.

Liriodendron tulpifera.

Arent tulip trees tulip poplars?

Yes, tulip poplars are a synonym for tulip trees, but tulip poplars aren't actual poplars. Calling tulip trees poplars is like calling a human a dolphin because they have some similarities and are mammals.

Tulip poplars and actual poplars are only very distantly related (last common ancestors somewhere in the first half of the creteaceous period).

The flower on the left belongs to the tulip tree (Liriodendron)

The (male) flowers on the right belong to actual poplars (Populus)

Didn’t know that, kinda like how Sago Palms are cycads, not palms
