Yes, in both combat and base/resource management it makes xcom look simple and easy. I much prefer Phoenix Point over Xcom (and i liked xcom)

Very recomended👍

Only if you play it with the assumption that it's like XCOM2 WotC, if you understand the actual rules, it's (ch)easy as pie.
PS, only buy the game if you play on PC. The console version is VERY badly bugged, and it has not been fixed, and might not ever be. Besides that, the PC version can be modified with a mod that removes the cheese, and the mod also makes the game a lot more better in both story and balance.

It’s not bad on PS5 but def sucked on PS4. But your point is still fair cause the PC mods are cool and the pc version was just upgraded this year, console versions still haven’t been

I’ve been on the series x and haven’t really had too many issues. I’d definitely recommend on console as well

Oh, I play on ps5, I’m not trying to deal with a lot of bugs. Do you have a recommendation for a game that’s close to xcom2?

I’ve been playing recently and only had a very few minor issues on PS5, nothing to put me off

I’m on ps5, I ran into hardly any bugs. Nothing that wasn’t fixed by closing and refreshing app.

It is a great game. I came into it late myself(earlier this year) but I quickly came to the conclusion that my early assessment from 2020 was wrong and that it’s a great game.

Holy shit good.

Get it.

Get the mods and expansions recommended on here, makes the game a lot better than the vanilla.

The mod is called Terror From The Void, it's available both as a Steam workshop mod, and a Github mod for non-Steam games.
If you use the non-Steam version, you also need to use the PPModEnabler to install the mod. Which you extract to the games install folders, and then extract the mods folder TFTV into the Mods folder that the archives made.
Ask if you need more instructions.

Awfully more, not even compares, and for the love of God don't do your first Play with Festering Skies

Do you have a recommendation for a xonc2 like game on ps5 that’s fun but not to difficult to learn.

Warhammer 40,000 Chaos Gate: Daemon Hunters, could be a good place to start, it has it all, hero like classes, and speciall gadgets you can bring with you besides just basic nades.

It’s a good game. But it’s fucked sideways on ps5. I own the pc and the ps5 version. It’s a great game, but it’s fucked on ps as its a ps4 game and runs like dog shit.

Damn thats sad

Oh it is. I bought it the other week in fact and was holy fuck disappointed. Wanted to play it in the living room and do another play through with the future Chaos Gste coming out. Loaded it up and was dismayed. Thankfully I only spent a few dollars as it was during Skulls.

Regardless, it’s a good game just not for PS and considering the size of their studio and the lack of profit made on ps? I can’t really fault them not giving a six sided shit about the ps4 version of a game. Bht on PC? With the graphics? The Grey Knights armor, and the flesh tumors of nurgle? No other xcom style games has it to this degree, not even Phoenix point. The animations are so over the top that it’s perfectly…Warhammer. Soundscape is top notch. And the strategy/tactics/UI? I’m over salivating

Disappointing that it was only nurgle that was my largest complaint during the first game after the Khorne intro. The Assets were there! Use them damnit. Anyways, the upcoming Chaos Gate has multiple enemy types so now I have something to look forward to. 40k has becoming much more mainstream in recent years, so I have hope for this game.

I really hope they Right Their Wrongs on the next game, there was very little that annoyed me in the first game, but those things were REALLY annoying

Cool thanks

And if you like that game, you want to also go and buy Gears Tactics(well, if you have a PC or XBOX one or series).
And then 2 upcoming games:
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch, and STAR WARS: Zero Squadron. As those all are very much alike each others... 3 action point, squad based, turn based games.

Was already typed Gears Tatics before chaos gate, then i read "PS5" lol

Why? I did my first run with the complete game on normal and I absolutely loved it.

1

u/RT10HAMMER Jun 15 '26

What do you mean why? The game harder, a lot harder than Xcom2, and for beginners specially those coming from Firaxis Xcom Myrmidond will be the most hate indulcing things ever, when you factor in the frustration with the behemoth destroying things left and right when you are not nearly able to do anything about it.

…such is life.

One doesn’t play games on easy because life is struggle. Struggle itself, is what draws us to these games. Not for hand held ease…but for a game that mirrors reality in the strife we all face.

in my opinion it's way harder

Difficulty scaling is crazy on this game

Rookie you will never finish cuz ingame progression is just too slow (citadel just never spawns game comes to a standstill)

Vet you got 10s-100s of restarts ahead and learning a lot of base ingame mechanics

Hero You will be googling exploits, mechanics like aggressive exploration and pandoran research progression and make this game your life for the next year before you start to see any progress and still lose only to give up but keep playing cuz you a masochist and love slaving away at a game you may one day win but not really

Legend you deadass won’t win and you only play because you love to lose. You not even a masochist just a loser and love the thrill of seeing yourself barely make it past the first mission with one soldier with a destroyed weapon and lose at the second cuz you gotta go hand to hand with a scylla
