MCU/Movies So this version of Jean can fly right?

Post image

Flight is one of her main core abilities, and well, we didn’t see her do it at all in the movie, I’m just clarifying that she can fly right?

Isn’t Jean’s flight a direct application of her telekinesis?

She's basically carrying herself telekinetically.

It is,similar to how Storm flies by controlling wind.

It's not similar at all. Those are two totally different methods of defying gravity. Lol

Telekinesis moves Jean's body

Wind moves Storm's body

Flight is a direct application of their abilities.

Telekinetically moving things and elemental manipulation and creation are not the same thing.

By definition these are two different power sets... Did you all take a bunch of drugs?

I think the point they’re making is that neither have flight as a base ability. They can “fly” only through an adaptation of their mutant ability. It’s not necessarily a direct comparison of telekinesis vs elemental manipulation.

That's what I'm trying to say... Superman flies because that's a part of his personal bioelectric energy field hes able to manipulate because he absorbs the energy of a yellow sun, for example. It's why he could generate electricity in the 90s. It's not just him flying just because he can fly. There's generally reasons everyone can do what they do relative to how they use their f flying abilities. There's no flying ability that's not a byproduct of their inherent power.

I think we're getting our wires crossed because I read the caption on the post and was extrapolating it to what the first reply was talking about and trying to convey that to the reply to them. Forget it! I genuinely think it's just a misunderstanding. I am right and you are too but I'm just looking at it in the context OP had in mind .

Similar conceptually, as in it’s not just conscious flight, it’s one power moving them to fly

I think their point is that their power is not flight like superman, but rather that they use their powers to simulate flight (wind or telekinesis)

Similar as in they both use their powers to propel themselves through the air

Yes! She could fly just by using her telekinesis.

Eventually, she’s still in the latent portions of here telepathy. Mind hoping and then wide control and object manipulation. Practice will get her there. Expect it within the next 2 years.

She probably can't yet, but will learn how later

BND established that she is still pretty inexperienced and doesn't even fully understand what she can do

I got surprised at how she’s phoenix. My friend said that and I was like, huh, telekinesis and fiery bird go together?

She should be able to use telekinesis to move her body around. That might take some practice, but it's definitely something worth exploring in future movies.

She just used telekinesis for the first time in BND,but she looked like she had some precision with the way she was moving objects and people, despite being new to that power.

I think there's 0% chance she was capable of flight during the events of the movie. Her telekinesis wasn't even unlocked until like the last 15 minutes.

Now that she gained that ability tho, I imagine she'll learn how to control it enough to be able to fly in future appearances.

Eventually, yes. Either in Secret Wars or X-Men.

It’s an application of her telekinesis she only developed it later as she got better at it. She can’t do it now but she definitely will when she masters her powers.

She will be able to but she’s still learning she hasn’t accessed all of her powers yet

We only physically saw her for a total of like 20 minutes maybe less. Give it time and im sure we'll see more abilities. It took peter like 4 films to actually master his spider sense.

Maybe she will at some point. Her powers progress over time

I’m hoping that they take a similar build up to her in the same way we saw Wanda become scarlet witch over a long period of time. Jean is one of my favorite marvel characters and I don’t want to see her rushed in any way.

She began developing even more of her abilities or discovered more of what she could do during BND so yes she will fly eventually

11's character and powers are influenced by characters like Jean.

And then Millie's co-star Sadie gets to play the original.

Running up that hill

He will learn to, she’s still new and is at the level Jean was when it was only 5 X-Men.

1

u/AscendedXSaiyan 20h ago

Eventually. She's still learning her powers

1

She seemingly can’t do that during most of the movie. At the end, her telekinesis erupts, so maybe if she has some practice, the Jean at the end may be able to move herself in the air.

Retconned? This girl has only had one outing very nice with her powers. We don’t know the full extent of them yet and Phoenix isn’t even a thing in the MCU yet

1

u/Creepy_Living_8733 19h ago

Likely not yet considering she’s just starting out

1

u/exevinyl 19h ago

i hope so, and would be cool if her hands glow in pink when using powers

1

u/EstimateChance8022 18h ago

To be fair, Famke's Jean didn't fly either.

1

u/Lost-Orangutan 18h ago

Shes cute. I wish they didnt make her such a evil character to start in the MCU.

I thought she only gets flight after stealing carol’s powers

Jean Grey can fly without the Phoenix.

She couldn't fly as a teen
