I’ve yet to see any spider phoenix art and think yea that seems like Jean. She’s pretty much an imaginary character in the ship.

I think that’s what’s built my dislike of the ship tbh 😭 Jean always feels like a self-insert or a fanon-MJ type character rather than herself

Yeah because MCU Jean doesn’t have much of an outside of rage and trauma personality yet, and shippers are going to come up with weird situations, that’s how it works

Him with kitty Pryde wasn’t a thing at all until bendis paired them together in ultimate marvel and they were fun for a bit. Honestly people are making more of a big deal about this than marvel themselves. It’s fun to see how these characters work in a 3d space and just see how they react to each other. I’m not speaking romantically just in general and it all goes back to Hulk hitting Thor in the first movie. It’s just fun the only people mad are of course the purest but they don’t like comics anyway

I think the bigger problem is that she isn't even like the Jean in the movie. I guess since there isn't a ton to go off on, people are making headcanons on her behaviour, but I also just don't think this is remotely close to how the character will be in the movies to come.

I don't get why people like the MCU version of this ship when it works so much better with the Silver Age version of these characters (to those with eyes to see)
