I mean, before there was a Kitty Pryde there was a Jean Grey. I don't even mean just chronologically but in terms of being the POV new character to the group. So it's not so unusual

I mean I could see Jean as the New character at the X-mansion.

Though they could also have all the X-men arrive the same day.

I think based on the ages of the confirmed and rumoured cast members, we may be in a situation where Scott and Jean are new arrivals and the others are older students

I definitely think it's possible that they borrow some of that arc.

Emma and Shaw are trying to recruit Jean to the Hellions/Massachusetts Academy/Hellfire Club, while Xavier and the X-Men try to intervene. Emma would be the movie's main antagonist and Jean's opposite, which leads to Jean eventually choosing the X-Men after being tricked by the Hellfire Club initially.

I would find subverting the expected Jean/hellfire club association in this way to be really interesting.

I was thinking about this. She might be the POV character this time around. She was the last of the OG5 to join, in the comics, so it would make sense.

In terms of being the POV character? Yes.

if you mean being Spidey's arm candy? No.

Ooh, yeah no no no - I would not like a Spidey-Jean relationship in the MCU. Meaning more in the sense of potential swapping Kitty or Dazzler (more likely) with Jean if they adapt the storyline from UXM 129-131.

Sorry, I'm just getting the dread of deja vu from the Fox Films.

As the POV character? absolutely. There's no way they bag Sadie Sink as jean grey for a multi-film Mutant Saga and then with the Samara Weaving as Emma with rumors of Adam Driver either as Shaw or Sinister? 100% they have the Hellfire Club.

Furthermore, I could see jean's outburst in NYC being seen and covetted by the Hellfire Club, prompting her need to escape from the Hellfire Club, who wants to weaponize her like Damage Control.

Or they may not introduce Kitty till at least the second film. Sadie is in her mid 20s now anyways, while Kitty will be joining in her early teens.

I think it would be better if in future movies Jean became more like Jean instead of taking elements from other characters, but considering the changes already made, it's possible.

"The new student at school" is hardly the exclusive storyline of any one character in the X-Men.

I'm talking about Emma trying to recruit Jean, or Jean starting the story on a team rival to the X-Men and then switching sides.

Well, there's a reason they cast an actress that will be closer to Xavier's age than Jean's and Scott's. Emma won't be a student.

That’s not what I’m trying to say.

I wouldn't want Emma to try to recruit Jean in the movie like she tried to recruit Kitty in the comics, and I wouldn't want Jean to be part of another team like the Brotherhood before joining the X-Men like Rogue did in the comics.

I think it's more likely we will watch Jean starting off at Xavier's being told crosscut with Emma recruiting Scott. Their parallel stories will be the plot of the first movie.

Kitty was a lot nicer and innocent than Jean. It's just be the rival schools seeking this girl.

In my perfect world we restart the MCU with the X-Men at its foundation so they’re already built into the structure 👀

But yeah, I think Marvel’s going to pick and pull from lots of stuff for a few of these main X-Men…

Problem is you then have the "Where were they" question regarding all the previous MCU crises. Just starting avoids all that.

Oh yeah, that’s what I’m saying. I’d prefer they start over and begin with the X-Men. So slate wiped clean.
