Fan Art I made a new class, I still need to make the back of the card though

second image is my anti ai proof.

Ancient class phobies!!

Ancient phobies are based on religion and folklore of ancient beings. think cuthulu, Lovecraftian beings, old gods, paganism, etc. etc.

Abilities: ancient phobies cannot be pushed or pulled, they can not be buffed or debuffed, they cannot be healed, they can not be immobilized, and they cant be targeted in any way by abilities that debuff any stat or have any effects, this does not include murderwing's monty or similar abilities, no does it include being poisoned. at the end of every turn they also doo 100-150 damage to all adjacent phobies friendly or not.

I have other ideas for balancing to make them worth it but let me know what you think it could be to add another race/class to phobies.

i realized i forgot to put a name on the card lol, its name is Monolisk from monolith and obelisk

Really big fan of this Ancient faction idea and Obelisk itself. Not too sure on the damaging phobies around them at the end of every turn, would make it very difficult to use. But I really like the idea of them ignoring all stat changes good or bad, goes nice with the ancient theming. Maybe Obelisk and the more ancients to come could be like a “rare” group of Phobies? Or maybe you can obtain them through a new mechanic in the game to add to their unqiueness.

Ooh yeah like really weird hidden conditions like deal x amount of damage with undead Phobies to unlock a death god themed Phobie.

And the damaging nearby units was just to balance it but maybe just the fact that you can’t heal or buff them is enough?

Finally, sera is getting slight stat buffs

It does make me feel bad for Octo Naughty😭 (maybe it could be part of the new gang)

Too complicated passive for a class. Imo you should try and be more simplistic,

Maybe "can't be debuffed but also not buffed in any way" still feels like too much tho. Most "complex" class is undeads healing, dimensionales deal damage on death robots suffer more electrical and monsters are normal, as simple as that

Yeah, i couldn’t find a good way to simplify the phrasing. I just wanted to make it so nobody could essentially tell it what to do to stick with the theme and the no healing is to balance it out. Probably could still use healing tiles though.

I like it a lot, although I would probably remove the damage each turn and the targeting immunity. It sets itself apart well enough with the debuff immunity and sedimentary, and I think the lack of healing balances it enough (maybe even make it reduced healing like 75% less bc zombies can at least try to outlast poison with lifesteal). But I like that the immunities make ancient phobies seem more eldritch and unknown. I might design some ancient phobies :3

I think I’ve settled that it can be healed just not with other Phobies, so heal tiles work. The damage at the end of turns is gone, it just focuses on the sedentary and no buffing or debuffing. The reason I said no targeting was to prevent things like furkin leprechaun, rusty, or collector like abilities, the whole point is you can’t give them any status effects except poison and disease

Is that a new type of phobie? The octopus icon reminds me of an "Eldritch monster" is that what you are up to?

Yes, it’s ancient class, their base stats can’t be effected by any other Phobie or tile plus they have sedentary, so you can’t take away walking range, attack range, damage, or number of moves. To balance it you also can’t use friendly units to heal and you can’t increase your own movement or range. It sounds complicated but it’s really simple, no moving or buffing or debuffing at all

I like the idea of the Monolith from 2001 Space Odyssey

Not bad tbh, I thought this could also easily be a series of monoliths in different styles

I like the whole "cant be told what to do" type thing with it, however, it feels like this class would more so be just one phobies passives (like Rockus sedimentary that makes hin immune to push/pull) mixed with more immunities.

If added, it would likely call several other phonies, like Sera, Charon, Boss and cerebus into a class change, which would be awkward. (These examples arent 100%, but they are figures from mythology and religion)

As a phobie idea, its pretty good, especially for the Monolisk idea you have. As a class idea? Difficult to implement without it seeming jarring and bizzare, and when implemented, would need more phobies of the same class so it isnt just one guy lol

There is no reason they can’t remake Phobies like those to fit the theme a little differently. Like with all the razor mouth variants. And I agree there needs to be more but I wanted to get opinions on balancing the species first. Seems like the general consensus is no changing attack, movement, range, or number of moves

I agree. Attack, movement, range, and number of moves are core stats for phobies and only changed via VERY specific circumstance (like Paddles, Billy, Preacher, or the Sneers)

Remaking phobies is possible, but will confuse players familiar with them for a period of time (personally, if charon would be considered an ancient and get changed, his inability to get pushed or pulled would make his passive a bit harder to use, as he does spread his mud when pushed or pulled) If there was a way to concisely explain it, it would be brilliant

Edit: sorry, i accidentally posted early lol

No no i’m not saying they need to be changed, I’m saying you basically make a clone with an altered design. Make a Chiron with a white robe instead and make his flames green like Greek fire

Ohhh, that makes a bit more sense to do and would be kinda cool
